The 1000 cranes project
This project was created by going back to the ancient times, where the Japanese said that anyone who folds 1,000 cranes will granted a wish. Which could be used to help you family from sickness or other things. So they made this website so people could put there wishes inside the cranes. To help with sickness or a lose of the family. www.1000cranesofhope.com
Story of the peace crane
Sadako was a 6 year old girl who was affected by the atom bomb. She started developing bumps all over her and they called them the "atom bomb" disease. While she was in the hospital the nurses would tell her about the peace cranes and how if you fold 1000 of them you can get a wish. After she heard that she started folding 1000 cranes. But then sadly died. That kickstarted the peace cranes. People started folding them and they would place them at her statue to show people all that violence of the war effected others and killed people. The cranes show peace and hope that there will be world peace one day. www.storyofthepeacecrane.com

Hiroshima
In august 1945 a bomb was dropped on the Japanese city Hiroshima. This nuclear bomb killed over 129,000 people and destroyed the city. Firebombs were dropped all over and set families houses on fire, leaving them with no where to go and nothing to hold on to. Many were injured and many lives were lost. Finally they surrendered unconditionally on september 2 because they had no more to destroy and there people were suffering to much.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki
