Why should students be encouraged to create?
In her book, The New Pillars of Modern Teaching, Gayle Allen shifts the focus of education away from curriculum, instruction, and assessment to student design, curation, and feedback. Providing students with voice and choice to create meaningful products that show learning, growth, and development empowers them to take control of their learning.
Students can not only use GarageBand to learn about recording, chord progressions, keyboard skills, rhythmic patterns and the ability to perform, they can use it to create a podcast for a topic in your class, record an original soundtrack for a movie, perform an original composition or create a backing track for a song.
