Character Strength: PRUDENCE

Plan for the future and achieve your goals by making careful everyday choices.

Prudence is the ability to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. It's a future-oriented way of thinking that helps a person set goals, make plans, and have the discipline to accomplish them. It is cognitive - more a strength of the head than of the heart. Individuals with this strength might be described as farsighted, judicious, sensible, practical or careful.

Our Hospitality team is hard at work planning a lunch for our staff on Friday, February 1st and we need your help to make it super! Please see the Konstella sign and help if you are able to! As always, thank you for your support. The Penny Road staff loves to be treated to lunch!

McTeacher's Night is coming soon!

Please join us for our annual Penny Road McTeacher's night at McDonald's in Mill Pond Village (3494 Kildaire Farm Rd) on Thursday, January 31st from 5:00-8:00 pm. Our school will receive a portion of the sales for the evening. The best part? There may be a surprise guest (or two or three) working behind the counter!!

Thank you for all of those who have submitted their forms for the Sweetheart Dance. We have over 200 people signed up to attend! Please remember that all orders are due to the office by Thursday, January 31st. For planning purposes we will not be able to accommodate late requests, nor will we be able to sell tickets at the door. There are still a few slots available for volunteers. If you have time, we would love your help! If you have a middle school or high school student who would like to help, please feel free to sign them up!

Family STEM Night!

On Wednesday, February 27th NC State’s Student Engineer Ambassadors will be at Penny Road to bring us a Family Stem Night. The event will be from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Be on the lookout for a volunteer sign up because we will need parents to help with crowd control. There will be a brief General PTA meeting beforehand at 5:30 pm in the Creative Commons.

Save the Date: Penny's Hometown Backyard BBQ Spring Carnival May 17th, 2019!!

Can you believe that Penny Road's famous Spring Carnival is just around the corner? We are so excited to bring back our silent auction this year - bigger and better than ever! We are currently busy soliciting big ticket items, but we need your support. If you have a beach house (or any rental connections), new electronic items, or if you own a business and could help us out, it would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Have a donation or need more information? Please contact Lindsay Tremelling at Thank you!!!

MORE Homework Resources

Just a reminder that our Homework Resources for Parents page is growing! We now have ELA resources for Grade 3 through 5 and Math Resources for Grades 6 through 8 in both English and Spanish! This is a great way to engage families on how to have conversations with their child around their learning. You can find it by going to Parents, then Homework Resources in the drop down, on either the district site or on our school homepage.

Set up your child's school lunch account and never worry about them forgetting their lunch or running out of money again! Visit and create an account using your child's NCWISE student ID#. Most students in grades 1-5 will have this number memorized. If your student does not know it, you may obtain it from the front office. Setting up an account is a great thing to do even if your child does not intend to buy lunch. If they forget their lunchbox, you can save yourself a trip to school and just tell them to buy lunch on their account!

We NEED yearbook photos!

Happy New Year PRE families!! We are half way through the 2018-19 school year and we need your photos to make our yearbook special!! Please upload any photos you take throughout the school year! If you've attended parties, field trips, or other classroom events, please share with the yearbook editor! Photos can be uploaded to:
