Read-a-thon Winners

Thank you to all who participated in the Read-a-thon! We had a great time celebrating reading and it was fun to have the Scholastic Book Fair on campus during that week.

For every $100 raised, students received an entry into a drawing to win one of 2 prizes-the opportunity to be Principal for the Day or a Barnes and Noble date with Principal Emily. We had a lot of students represented in the drawing, which is awesome! Congratulations to Eisley Den Boer for being the lucky winner! We would also like to recognize our TOP EARNER, Sawyer Carpenter, who will also be receiving one of the prizes! Congratulations Eisley and sawyer!

Important Information Regarding the CUSD Facilities Master Plan

What is the Facilities Master Plan?

The Facilities Master Plan helps guide facility improvements throughout the school community. Each phase identifies the renovation and remodeling for our schools district-wide.

Chico Unified is in Phase IV of the current Facilities Master Plan. The last update was made in 2019. View the current Facilities Master Plan.

Master Plan Update - Input Opportunities
Our Chico Unified School District Facilities Department is currently meeting with our educational community to identify considerations for any adjustments and updates to the existing Facilities Master Plan.

What is a Facilities Master Plan

A Facilities Master Plan is a living document produced as a summation of a comprehensive process and becomes the road map to address the District's current and future facilities improvement needs. A Facilities Master Plan examines overall educational and facilities needs beyond any modernizations or improvements constructed to date at each site. Moreover, the process of developing a comprehensively prepared Facilities Master Plan includes a planning team and outreach process to solicit input from District's school sites and the community.

Message from Bidwell Junior High

Your Bidwell friends are excited to welcome our incoming 6th grade students and families to campus on April 5 (for Shasta and Marigold families) and April 6 (all other schools). Student-led tours of the campus will begin at 3:30 as families arrive in the Covered Area near the gym parking lot. We plan to show students as many aspects of Bidwell life as possible (without overwhelming them), with all tours ending no later than 4:30. Tours will end in the gym where we will have tables set up for our community partners (sports, PTA, Bidwell Foundation, clubs, etc.) to share their offerings with families.

In lieu of a welcome message in the gym, I’ve linked a little 10-minute welcome video here for families to watch ahead of time: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uGVZmCj4lX_aZLzgVmiqNPw0tGnj95DX/view?usp=sharing

Sincerely,

Dave McKay

Bidwell Junior High Principal

Sprouty Store Wishlist

The Sprouty Store was a huge success last year, and we need donations for the new school year! The Sprouty store is a monthly student store that is available for 1st-5th grade students. Throughout the school year students earn Sproutys, Hooker Oak's school money, and they can spend them at the store. The Sprouty Store is able to happen from parent donations. You can check out our Amazon wish list, which gets directly sent to Hooker Oak, or if you spot something you think students will enjoy you can drop it off at the office. We appreciate all donations to the Sprouty Store!
