Principal's Update
We're Seeing STAARs!
Fourth and fifth grade students will be taking their first round of STAAR on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 28th and 29th. Fourth graders will take the STAAR Writing on Tuesday. Fifth graders will take STAAR Math on Tuesday and STAAR Reading on Wednesday. The campus will be closed to visitors and volunteers during state testing. Lunch and specials schedules will be adjusted. (Contact your child's teacher for specific information if needed.)
Friday, March 31st is Movie Night! This fun PTA sponsored family event will be a great way to end a busy week, so make plans to join us. Students must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Bring your lawn chairs, pillows, blankets! The event is free, and snacks will be available for purchase.
Have a great week!

Empty Bowls Festival
We are collecting food items through April 6th for the annual Empty Bowls Festival! We've got a great start thanks to your generosity. The top contributing elementary, middle, and high schools will be recognized at the festival. Our England Choir will be performing, and handmade items from our England Art Club will be sold at the festival! Come out and support this community wide event on April 8th from 11:00-2:00 at Cedar Ridge High School.
3rd and 4th Graders Hard at Work
Science, writing, math...it's all best learned through hands-on, collaborative and engaging work. Our students enjoy spreading out in the large common areas for science explorations. Fourth graders had fun polishing their skills at Camp STAARLight. There were S'More celebrations at the end of camp.
School Spirit!
We have it! After recognizing students for participation and accomplishments in a variety of clubs and extracurricular groups, our 5th graders did a great job reviewing LEOPARDS PAWS for the whole school. We celebrated the kick-off of the Empty Bowls food collection with a dance. Thanks to our coaches for keeping our students in great shape! Thank you to our 5th Grade Team for modeling school spirit!

LEOPARDS
Our LEOPARDS focus for April is service. Service is embedded firmly in our school culture. For example, England Student Council members help our school community through campus clean-ups, charity drives for various organizations, and by organizing school-wide service events. Third graders include service beyond the school community in their project based learning units. Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups perform patriotic service by taking on flag duties, and they assist with maintaining our outdoor areas. Our students and parents have donated approximately $50,000 in goods/services to charity since we opened our school in 2012. This includes the funds donated for Libraries of Love, funds for clean water access in Kenya, donations to wildlife organizations, food donations, clothing donations, Coins for Coats, and so much more. PTA volunteers, club coaches, mentors, reading tutors, Scout leaders, and parents give countless hours of their time to our school. It's a blessing for our children to be surrounded by a caring and generous community.
