Your Weekly BGS PTO News & Happenings

Thanks for an Amazing Year

That's a wrap! The 2018-19 school year has been a whirlwind of learning and fun for our Bears. Thanks to everyone who helped to support and enrich our children's learning - whether you're a teacher, a staff member, an administrator, a family member or friend, a class parent, a fundraiser, an event volunteer, a event participant or a PTO sponsor. All of you are part of the BGS Community and that's what truly makes Bradley Gardens a great place to learn.

If you have ideas or questions during the summer, feel free to reach out to us at the PTO mailbox - bgsptopresident@gmail.com. We'll see you in September!

Faculty Room Makeover - Painters Needed

Renovation work for our Faculty Room Makeover project begins right after school ends. We'll have a small window of time to get it painted after the demolition and before the new cabinets are installed. We're putting together a volunteer painting crew on Thursday, June 27 to get some new paint up on the walls. If you can help with painting, sign up for a shift here: https://tinyurl.com/lounge-painting

Congrats to Our Spring Grant Recipients

As you may recall, one of the reasons we fundraise throughout the year is to help sustain our Grant Process for the faculty and staff. Twice a year, the BGS educators can propose ideas that will enrich our kids' learning. For this Spring grant cycle, the PTO is pleased to award the following grants:

  • Mrs. Tiberio - Flexible seating options for her 1st grade class including clipboards, lap desks, portable recliners, and carpet spots
  • Mrs. Rose - Flexible seating and organization supplies for her Kindergarten classroom including scoop chairs, carpet circles, lap desks, area rug, caddies, and a puppet stand
  • Mrs. Winters - Flexible seating options for her 1st grade classroom including balance ball chairs, replacement balls, and wobble cushions
  • Mrs. O'Donnell - English & Language Arts resources to supplement the 4th grade curriculum, including Storyworks & Scholastic News

All of the flexible seating options have already been ordered and delivered. The materials for the 4th graders will be ready to go when we're back to school in September. Congratulations, all!

Thanks Again to Our 4th Grade Carnival Helpers

Those with 4th graders know how special the final farewell from BGS is. Our PTO volunteers outdid themselves last Friday with a special carnival-themed 4th Grade Fun Day. The weather held out, the kids had a blast, and all went home exhausted!

Special thanks, once again, to all of the families who made that event possible. From donations of snacks, to volunteers who helped staff booths and organize throughout the day, to those who helped decorate the night before - your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

To our organizing team - Rose Fischer, Lauren Ravi, Jenniffer Runyon, Kim Yacykewych, Filomena Graham, & Jean Frick - you all went above and beyond to make the day special for our outgoing Bears. Thank you for all you do!

Don't Forget to Support BGS During the Summer!

Amazon Smile - Support BGS Year-Round

Doing some shopping on Amazon this summer? How about when you buy school supplies?

Why not earn money for the school while you're at it? Just go to http://smile.amazon.com and register to support the BGS PTO (we're listed as Bradley Gardens PTO). It's still the great Amazon services and prices AND Amazon donates a portion of the purchase back to our school! Orders must be placed via the smile.amazon.com link rather than the regular Amazon link to earn credit for the school.

Keep Collecting Those Box Tops

Did you know we collect Box Tops YEAR-ROUND? While we do run a contest during the winter, we also accept Box Tops in the yellow mailbox in the gym hallway all the time. Each one of those little labels earns us $0.10 for the school and they add up. This year, we've earned close to $900 just with Box Tops alone! That's a good chunk that we can put toward teacher grants, class trips and assemblies.

So stick a baggie on your fridge and remember to clip your Box Tops. We'll happily take them off your hands in September!
