News from the View!

Dedicated to furthering the lives of our students.

Hello Again,

The end of the year is almost around the corner. It does not seem possible that another year has come, and almost gone. I do hope your student has, not only enjoyed this year, but has grown in many areas.

Reflecting on this year, it has been an exciting one for all of us. Together we learned much and shared experiences that will long remain with us in the years to come. The strength of our community, and passion to make our school a wonderful place of learning not only for our students, but for us as well, has made North View Middle School a special place.

Special thanks to all of you who contributed in many ways by attending events to support our students, chaperoning field trips, sharing your talents, and supporting our work in countless other ways. As we progress out of this year, and begin planning for next year, I would encourage you to let us know how you would like to be involved by completing the survey below. It will help North View Middle School determine family engagement opportunities for the 2019-2020 school year.

Be sure to also periodically check the school's website, and calendar to see many more exciting things planned for this school year. Additional information is also contained in this newsletter, and I hope it serves as a valuable resource to keep you updated on important information related to teaching, learning, and enriching your child’s school experience.

Our end of the year student celebrations are fast approaching, and we wanted you to be aware of the exciting opportunities available for you, and your student. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders who are "On Track", by embodying what it means to be a "Knight", will be invited to go to Grand Slam (6), Sky Zone (7) & Valley Fair(8) at the end of the year to celebrate their success.

The sixth and seventh grade field trips are scheduled for Friday, May 31st, and the 8th grade field trip is scheduled for Monday June 3rd. A special note to seventh grade families: All students who are eligible for the Sky Zone field trip must have an online waiver completed in order to participate in the event.

We recommend that you fill out the electronic waivers as soon as possible. You can do so by visiting and clicking on the button that says "FILL OUT WAIVER". Paper waivers will not be accepted by Sky Zone.

Please view the video below to learn more about the field trips, and the criteria associated with these opportunities.

About me.

This is my fifth year serving as principal of North View Middle School. Before coming to North View, a large portion of my professional career has been spent with Osseo Area schools, six of which were spent working as the Assistant Principal of Osseo Senior High. Before that, I spent time as a Dean of Students for Richfield High School and middle school level Science teacher and behavior dean with the Minneapolis public school system.

While in Minneapolis, I spent five wonderful years teaching middle level Science at Lincoln Community School and Anishanabe Academy to sixth, seventh and eighth grader and two years providing academic and behavioral support while working as dean. My past experiences have shaped my core beliefs and philosophy of education. For me, schools must be an integral part of the community they serve. They should also be focused on high expectations for all students, and through developmentally appropriate and strong instructional practices, give students the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to exceed these expectations.
