High Point Academy Updates
November 9th, 2022
High Point Academy Community
This past Thursday marked the end of our first trimester-the year is moving by quickly! Before the November break, you can expect your child's updated academic report in infinite campus. This also means a switch in your child's special's class. We encourage you to connect with your child on what new learning experiences they are having in specials this week!
Please read on for updates, highlights and other important information.

Teaching and Learning Highlights
- This week Mrs. Memige's 3rd-grade class had a publishing party to share their final works of writing that they have been doing over the past several weeks. It was wonderful to have so many families come up to celebrate the hard work of our students.
Wellness Day
- HPA's wellness team worked alongside many community partners and non-profit organizations to engage our middle school students in a series of wellness experiences that included physical, social, emotional, and financial. This also included an opportunity for our middle school staff to come together and talk about their wellness as teachers!
Days of Gratitude
So, I encourage all of you to reach out to your child's teacher and share some words of thanks, encouragement, and appreciation. Your kind words will go a long way in uplifting the members of our community who work so hard every day to be the best they can for every one of our students!
Cell phone Reminders
- Cell phones should not be used during the academic day. While in the school building they should not be visible-they are either in a locker or put away out of sight.
- If a student does take out a cell phone, they will receive two verbal reminders from the teacher to put it away. If the student refuses someone from our culture and equity team will come to the classroom to support the student to put the phone away.
- In the event that the student does not follow school expectations or they are asked repeatedly to put the phone away, it will be taken by an adult and a family member will be asked to come up to the school to get the phone.
We are revisiting these expectations for the safety of all our students and staff and are hoping to remove the distraction of the cell phone which is getting in the way of the academic success of some of our students.
Uniform Reminders
A few notes about uniforms:
- The seasons are changing, if you have uniforms that no longer fit your student, we are always accepting donations! Please bring any pants, shirts, sweatshirts, etc you are willing to donate to Ms. Chouinard, our school health assistant.
- We are noticing some students are not consistently coming to school in uniform. As a reminder, we are a uniform school and students not meeting the expectations of the school dress code may be required to call home and have a change of clothes brought to them. These students may be required to remain in the office until they can change to reduce classroom distractions.
- Please partner with us to assure that students are arriving to school ready to learn by being in uniform by reviewing the expectations outlined below. We want to students to be in class learning from the moment they arrive.
- Please refer to this handout from the beginning of the year with additional images and details.
