Self-Awareness
People who are more self-aware, are happier in the workplace. One way to be more self-aware is changing reflective questions from WHY to WHAT.
What do I do that causes people to have to wonder what I am thinking or feeling?
What do I do to make people feel safe in sharing their honest thoughts or feelings with me?
What things do you do that make students excited to come to your class every day?
What things do you do make others feel supported and appreciated?
Thank you for a Positive Campus Culture!
Thank you so much for greeting at your door daily at 7:15 until most students have arrived, which is usually somewhere around 7:25-7:30. It is such a POSITIVE way to start the day! I love seeing the greetings & hugs with OUR kids!
The percentages below is our percentage of Economically Disadvantaged (qualify for free/reduced lunch). You can see that we have had quite an increase in this population. Thank you so much for being ready to receive students at 7:15 to allow ample time for our students to have breakfast in the cafeteria. It's a great way for many of our students to start the day.
2014-2017 =8%
2017-2019= 11%
2018-2019 =16%
2019-2020 =24%
How People Learn- Walkthroughs
As we begin our first Learning Cycle, we are taking a close-up look at the Culture, Context and Environment in which learning takes place in our classrooms. We know that Tier One instruction is the most critical piece in the learning cycle. In order for students to be eager and motivated to engage in Tier One instruction in a way that moves their learning forward, we know that learning has to take place in a supportive and focused environment that in grounded in high expectations. Last week, we saw evidence in EVERY classroom of teachers building relationships to support learning. During walkthroughs next week, we are looking at structures you have in place to support high expectations for learning.
In ELA, we are eager to see how you have set up your meeting area, classroom libraries, anchor charts, browsing boxes, word walls, independent reading, and writing folders. In Math/Science classroom, we will look at the impact of your work walls, anchor charts, Partner and Learn, accountable talk, and student use of tools/resources. Our students are lucky to have YOU as their teacher!
