Wrapping Up the Semester With Finals
How do I get ready for finals? Make sure you understand the requirements for each class. If you have a cumulative final, gather your study guides, notes, etc. this week and next. Teachers will generally have a study guide, but it helps to organize your own materials as well. Group study sessions are a great way to make sure that you have covered all the material. If the group can stay focused, you can share the knowledge!
Test Anxiety- Some students get overwhelmed during finals week. Here are some tips to make it less stressful:
1) Get some sleep and eat a good breakfast. Detach from your phone and Netflix and get a solid amount of sleep. Even though you don't have to get here until 9, stay with your same schedule by arriving early and making sure you have all of your work to either turn in or study.
2) Don't cram! Studying only the night before is overwhelming and can be stressful. Start studying as soon as you know the format of the test and information. If you start now, you will be able to take breaks as needed and allow the information to digest in your brain.
The following link contains a great list of study strategies!

Raise Me Through Raise Me students can earn micro-scholarships for completing activities such as taking a math class, going to a virtual career fair, or participating in an extracurricular activity. You log information and earn money that can be used toward participating schools. Midwest participating schools include Newman University, U of Kansas, U of Oklahoma, Creighton U, Southern Methodist U, and many more. It is definitely worth checking out! https://www.raise.me/ | PSAT Results Students who took the PSAT on Testing Day will be able to access their PSAT results on line Monday, December 11. We will also hand out paper copies as well as an information booklet next week. | Failed a Class? If you fail a class, you need to check in with your counselor either before you leave for break or right after. We need to make up a credit recovery plan. Most students make up credits in the summer if it is a full year class such as English or math. However, if it is a semester class, we can try to put you in it second semester. |
