Monday Morning Message: November 16, 2020
Continuing Virtual Instruction
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we adjust to the various circumstances surrounding virtual and hybrid learning. As Mr. Hanna communicated, beginning today, Monday, November 16th, we will return to the elementary virtual schedule (see below). In addition, this Wednesday, and every Wednesday while we continue virtual learning, will become an asynchronous day in which students can work at their own pace.
It is important that students are logging on every morning at 9:15 to their homeroom teacher's Zoom as well as in the afternoon for their scheduled related arts class. Teachers will communicate what students should be doing during our MTSS time. Please see the link below to the related arts schedule. We will continue to update you on any changes.

Friday the Thirteenth Was World Kindness Day!
Fifth graders were asked to think about someone that has been a rainbow in their life recently, for example, someone that has shown them kindness, helped them with something, been a good friend to them or someone that has just made their day better (even an animal!).
Then, students were asked to create a rainbow. Somewhere around the rainbow they were to either draw or write the name of that person or animal that has been a rainbow in their life!

Reading Tips from Mrs. Washington
Reading Tips from Mrs. Washington
For the next six weeks, I will share tips for specific grade levels. This week, the focus is on kindergarten! However, you may find some of the tips helpful for first graders too.
There are many essential skills beginning readers need to have in place. One of the first is being able to hear the different parts of spoken words. This is called phonological awareness. Skills included under this term include:
· Rhyming
· Counting the syllables in a word
· Isolating the first sound in a word (cat - c-at)
· Segmenting (cat: c - a - t)
These can all be practiced just about anywhere, anytime. This practice is not about naming letters, but instead focusing on sounds and spoken word. Being able to hear the parts of words helps your child to later sound out words while reading and write words.
Learning the names of the letters and the sounds they stand for is another beginning skill needed for reading. A great place to start is with your child’s name. Clap out the syllables. For example: Jaiden has 2 syllables, Jai – den. Make up a silly rhyme: Jaiden, Waiden ect. Isolate the first sound J- aiden. What other things can you name that begin like Jaiden? Look around a room in you hose for object or just name some. Have fun playing with sounds!

21st Century After School Program
Hello Reeceville Elementary Families!!!!
My name Ms.Claudette, and I am the Program Coordinator with the 21st Century After School Program at Reeceville Elementary. This school year we would like to share some exciting news and tell you all about some new learning experiences that is going to be offered to your child(ren).
Like many schools throughout Chester County, classes are being offered remotely/virtually. Many teachers have begun to incorporate new tools and resources into their daily lessons. And students are experiencing new methods of learning which has an important, lasting impact on their educational experience. Throughout this transition, it has become very apparent that with the required physical distance between teachers and students, it is more important than ever to find ways to connect with students and keep them actively engaged, motivated and safe within the virtual learning experience.
I am excited to share with you that the 21st Century will be offering a virtual after school program. Our program will be operating Monday through Thursday. During this time your child will be provided with academic support that will assist with daily school assignments, extension activities and/or homework. Our program will also provide STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and Social Emotional Learning Enrichment.
Our 21st Century teachers will also be utilizing the Matific, educational math program. This program has over 1,500 interactive and engaging math activities and lessons. It is one of the most effective ways to help children learn the fundamentals of mathematics. Implementing Matific is an EXCELLENT way to help boost “math confidence” within children, while turning screen time into learning time.
If you would like your child to participate in the 21st Century Virtual After School Program, please feel free to contact me:

I look forward to speaking with all of you and starting this new and exciting school year!!
A Message from A Child's Care. . .
Good Afternoon CASD Families,
We are aware that CASD will be opening back up on Monday November 9th with a new hybrid model of learning. ACP will continue to offer Before/After and full day Virtual care in the schools. By now your child has been assigned their “Cohort” which will determine which day(s) your child will attend in-person learning in their school.
While your child attends in-person learning we will be able to offer Before and/or Aftercare IN YOUR CHILD’S HOME SCHOOL.
When your child will be learning virtually for the day we will be offering either a virtual school day care (9:15 am-3:45 pm) option or care for the Virtual school day plus Before and Aftercare (7 am-5:30 pm) which will be held at either King’s Highway or Reeceville (your choice).
If you require care, we ask that you complete the following forms attached and scan back to me ASAP:
-Emergency Contact and Enrollment forms
-CASD Tuition Agreement Cohort
-And either one or both Calendars for each month needing care: November; December
*How to complete attached Calendars: the tuition rates are PER DAY. On the calendar you will find a calendar key that will help you complete the form. For each day needing care please indicate which care you need using the specific letter(s) on the key. If you do not need care on a specific day please leave it blank.
You may complete either both calendars or just one depending on the care needed. Please note, space is limited.
If you complete the calendar and must make a change please make sure an email is sent to me the Wednesday prior to the week of care.
Please reach out if you have any questions at coatesville@acpkids.com.
