Periodic Table of Canadian Black History
The periodic table below of Canadian Black History is displayed in our front entrance. We encourage all students to stop by with their phone, scan a QR code and learn more about a famous Canadian.
Library Books
We have many students asking for our new books so please make sure you return your books when you are finished so other students can enjoy them.
Please remind your children to return their overdue books.
To sign out new books please go to Library Catalogue on our quick links tab.
District Honours Program
Qualifications to apply for the program will include a minimum of 80% in all 4 core subjects.
Although FR Haythorne has historically offered honours we are awaiting further direction as this is now a district program and will have new criteria that aligns all honours programs in the district.
We will share all information as we have it, including dates and application packages.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us in the office.
Paying Fees
All yearbook and pizza orders must be completed and paid before you leave the site or your cart will be emptied.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call Kim Walsh (our business manager).
Learning & being curious together at FRH
Over the past few days and into the next 2 weeks, grade 9 students will be participating in The Blanket Exercise here at FRH. The Blanket Exercise gives students a visual opportunity to see the history of the colonization of our country through a different lens. Some of our students have previously participated in a Blanket Excercise in elementary school, however, this version is a more complete look at the history than previously given.
This experience also builds on what students have covered in Social class this year as it relates to Collective Rights in Canada. If you’re curious, please ask your child in grade 9 if they have done theirs yet, what they learned and how they felt as they did it.
Caregiver Education Series
Alberta Health Services is hosting a series of caregiver information sessions focused on ways to support students’ mental health. The sessions are free and geared toward parents, caregivers, teachers and community members who want to learn more about challenges impacting children and adolescents. This year, session topics include anxiety, ADHD, depression, self-harm, technology, teens and teaching leadership skills, and more.
Visit Caregiver Education for the Edmonton Zone for more information and session dates.
Returning Student Registration (2021-22 school year) from Feb 1-28, 2021
Families of all returning students must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2021-22 school year. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space.
FR Haythorne is an open boundary school for the upcoming school year.
Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you need to set one up before Feb. 1, 2021.
