Hallinan Elementary
Hawk Squawk - 9/10/20
Principal's Message
Despite, what a whirlwind this first week has been - power outages, nearby fires, poor air quality and new technology issues, it's been such a joy for all of us at Hallinan to see you this week. I am so proud of how patient and calm our families and staff have been through all of this. As you are likely already aware, the District sent out a message closing all buildings today and canceling school Friday in order to keep all of our families safe. We look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
Even though classes will be meeting remotely until it's safe to be back in the buildings, all students (Hybrid and LO Online) will be following the schedule below and are expected to participate in both morning and afternoon sessions each day:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays:
8-10:45 Morning Session
- AM Cohort Math/Language Arts
- PM Cohort Social Studies/PE/Music/Innovation/Health/Science
12:45-3:30 Afternoon Session
- PM Cohort Math/Language Arts
- AM Cohort Social Studies/PE/Music/Innovation/Health/Science
Thursdays:
8-10:25 Morning Session
- AM Cohort Math/Language Arts
- PM Cohort Social Studies/PE/Music/Innovation/Health/Science
1:05-3:30 Afternoon Session
- PM Cohort Math/Language Arts
- AM Cohort Social Studies/PE/Music/Innovation/Health/Science
Students are expected to attend and participate in all classes, including in the asynchronous Science, Social Studies and Health lessons. While we do not provide letter grades in elementary school, students will receive a participation grade, and lack of participation in any content area will be noted on report cards.
Thank you students, parents and staff members for all your hard work this week! We appreciate everyone's support, resilience and flexibility as we navigate distance learning. If your family needs additional support, please reach out to your teacher and/or to me.
Stay safe!

Tech Info Sessions for Families
Tech Information Sessions
LOSD hosted two Tech Information Sessions covering the “how tos'' for getting started with distance learning. The session recordings and presentations are posted on the district site under Resources/Tech Support for Families.
Tech Support Ticket
A majority of tech concerns can be resolved by submitting a Tech Support ticket -- the link is on all school and district homepages for easy access to help with passwords, log-ins, hardware fixes, etc.
LOSD Free Meal Service for All Children
LOSD is providing free packaged breakfasts and lunches for all children who wish to participate in our Grab & Go meal service. New flexibility from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) enables LOSD to provide free meals to all children ages 1 to 18, even if the children are not enrolled in LOSD, now through the end of December 2020.
Children do not need to sign up for meals. However, it would be extremely helpful for our food service team to be able to plan ahead for the number of meals to serve. If children in your care are interested in participating in the Grab and Go meal service, please click here to complete a 30 second form.
The free Grab and Go meal service - breakfast and lunch meals can be picked up on Mondays and Wednesdays at the following locations:
Lake Grove Elementary, 11 a.m. - 12 pm.
River Grove Elementary, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Lake Oswego High School, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Lakeridge High School, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Meals should be picked up at the school site located closest to you. Children may participate in one or both days of the week; they may pick up 2 days of meals on Mondays and 3 days of meals on Wednesdays. Face coverings are required at pickups.
Thank you in advance for completing the Grab and Go meal service form so we know how many meals to prepare.
