Chaplain's Corner
Today we celebrate Father's Day. A special day when we show our love and appreciation for those males in our lives that help us as mentors, supporters, teachers and confidants. But even though we make a point of singling these men out today to show them how special they are to us, we show our love for them each and every day of the year. How many times has dad come to the rescue fixing something for us or being there when everyday challenges overwhelm us. This is no different for our great Father, God, who created us and is continuously supporting us in all the challenges we face as we travel on our life journey. On this special day when we are doing something extra special to show dad how much we care about him, take a moment to ask yourself what you can do to show God how special He is in your life and how much He means to you. Once you figure that out, go and make it happen because that is what God wants from you, your love and appreciation that He is extra special to you each and every day of the year, not just today.
God Bless each of you and your family.

EICS Demographic Forms
EICS Demographic Confirmation Forms are available now on your PowerSchool ParentPortal. Please take a moment to visit your PowerSchool ParentPortal account and complete this form; one for each child you have attending school with EICS.
Alberta Education requires that we obtain a detailed update of student demographics on an annual basis. School funding from Alberta Education is conditional on us receiving these updates and including them in your student’s record. More importantly, these forms ensure that we have the most current contact information if we need to reach you in event of an emergency.
We certainly appreciate you taking the time to complete these forms. Should you have any questions, or require assistance, please contact Carrie-Lynn in the office at 780-992-0889 and she will be happy to help.

One-to One Devices in EICS
At Elk Island Catholic Schools (EICS) our mission is to inspire success, confidence and hope in each student. As leaders in the use of technology we encourage creative and innovative learning.
Today’s students are already technology leaders. They want to take the technology they use in their daily lives and make it a normal part of their classroom experience. Research tells us that if we reflect this in their learning experiences, we will increase engagement which leads to improved student success.
EICS will be continuing with its very successful One-to-One technology program which invites students in Grades 4 to 12 to bring their own device to school as another tool for learning. In the classroom, students will use devices responsibly, and only with the permission and direction of the teacher or other staff members. Of course, technology alone will not improve learning — but when combined with the right instruction from skilled staff, amazing things can happen.

FSMA HOMEWORK CLUB
EICS Family Wellness Worker
Service Delivery
Each school is staffed with a Family Wellness Worker (FWW), who works under the direction of their School Principal and the Assistant Superintendent of Faith & Wellness. FWW's receive clinical guidance from a Registered Psychologist.
The primary function of the Family Wellness team is to provide social and emotional support to students and families. Family Wellness Workers meet with students and parents to assess needs, set goals, identify required supports, and plan appropriate interventions.
They collaborate with school system staff and community resources to build a “village” of support around students/families who are struggling.
Referrals
Parental consent is required for FWW services.
Referrals to the Family Wellness Program may be made by students, parents/guardians, school administration, teachers, or other school staff (e.g. school counsellor or collaborative response coordinator).
Parents and guardians can access these services by speaking with the Principal or contacting the school's Family Wellness Worker directly.
