MESSAGE FROM MRS. LAMBERT
Dear Parents
Parent conferences have finished and the end of the trimester is fast approaching! The trimester ends on Friday, Nov. 4th. Students are being assessed from now until the end of the trimester, teachers then complete the report cards, have them translated if necessary, and then report cards are sent home on Friday, November 18th. Please be sure to review them thoroughly and if you have any questions at all, please contact the teacher. We are happy to help you with this contact through the office personnel or the School Community Engagement Facilitator (SCEF). As always, please remember to ask your child how they are doing on the goals they have set and recorded in their school goal binder. It is important that these goal conversations happen regularly at home and not just at school.
Best regards,
Theresa Lambert

Hallowe'en Activities
This year there are some changes from what has been done in the past. We are not holding the Hallowe'en Parade this year due to construction activity. Students can still wear costumes to school if they choose and classes may still have Hallowe'en activities in the room at the end of the day if the teacher is planning any. Also, this year no clown costumes are allowed at school due to the "creepy clown" nervousness the students are exhibiting.
Principal’s Coffee
The Principal Coffee this month is Tuesday, October 25th from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. There will be coffee and pastries. We will discuss the construction plans, parent conferences, report cards, and anything else that is on your mind.
Minimum Days
Please remember that on Minimum Days, students and adults are not allowed back on campus to play on the blacktop or play structures. This is disruptive to the instruction still going on. The school is not open to the public until after 4:00 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation!

Dear Mariano Castro and Mistral Parents.

FROM THE DISTRICT
BUS STOP CHANGE
To improve safety, the District has worked with community partners to identify a new, safer bus stop location near Castro and Mistral elementaries.
Effective Monday, Oct. 31, the Blue & Purple Routes bus stop location will be moved from Latham Street to California Street at the southeast corner of Escuela Ave. The new location is less congested and more visible, and is in a much wider loading zone and area. During the transition, we will also have an adult and signage at the former bus stop location to direct students to the new stop.
When you are driving in that area, please know California Street is not a divided highway, and therefore all traffic going both directions must stop when the bus is loading and unloading, according California’s vehicle code.
For questions, please contact James Bakos, Director, Maintenance, Operations, Transportation, at jbakos@mvwsd.org or 650-526-3587.
