Galvan Explorer Experience
Week of September 16, 2019
A Message from your Principal, Diana S. Ybarra
It is College and Career Week and we look forward to having our student participate each day to promote the importance of setting career and college goals for their future. This week Mrs. Reyes, Parent Liaison will host a parent meeting on assisting students with Reading Comprehension Strategies while reading. Please make plans to attend on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 9:15 am in the cafeteria.
PTA Drive
Our PTA goal is to increase our membership every year. Students may now be part of the PTA membership. The class with the most PTA Memberships in each grade level receives an incentive. We encouraged everyone to join because it benefits all our students.
Attendance Matters Daily
Every week Explorers will earn a NUT Pass on Fridays for perfect attendance Monday through Thursday. We would like to acknowledge our Explorers hard work to be in school everyday. The daily attendance goal for Galvan ES is 96%.
If your child is absent, please make sure to have a written note stating the reason and have student turn the excuse into the office or his/her teacher. We encourage our Explorers to strive for excellence in their punctual attendance. We had 3 out of 4 days above 96% percent. Let's keep up the great work. Every student matters everyday.
Daily Attendance Rates from Aug. 30 thru Sept. 5:
Mon. Sept. 9- 95.5%
Tues. Sept. 10- 96.1%
Wed. Sept. 11-97.1%
Thur. Sept. 12-97%

Traffic Safety
Please be patient with our traffic lines during drop off and pick up times. Safety of your child is our utmost concern. It is imperative to follow traffic rules and procedures to keep our students, staff, and community safe. The safety of everyone is our campus priority. Kinder/PK/Special Needs Students are dropped off/picked-up in the staff parking lot along the green cones. Students in 1st thru 5th are dropped off/picked-up in the horseshoe. Please make sure to make your way all the way down to the horseshoe to keep the traffic flowing and students safe.
Here are some safety tips to follow:
1. No cellphone use or texting during drop off/pick-up
2. Drive slowly in the parking lot and horseshoe
3. All Pedestrians use the cross walk
4. Drivers watch for pedestrians
5. Respect handicap parking
6. Refrain from dropping off students by handicap area
7. Stay in your lane to avoid any accidents
8. Follow Crossing Guard Directions to move the traffic down the horseshoe
Thank you again for all the support and cooperation.
