KIA ORA WHANAU, FROM MR O
What an amazing week this has been! I could not be anymore proud than I was on Wednesday! What an amazing group of students and staff we have here at Vogeltown! A huge thanks again to the students and staff for the support of our production of 'The legend of Paetoki'. A big thanks to our Vogeltown community for the support you showed on Wednesday as well, it was an amazing show and the kids did a fantastic job.
Massive thanks to Ms Pretty for her leadership of the production - Tu Meke Rach!
One of the biggest parts of this production was the re-branding of the syndicates in 2020. The syndicates will become known by their local environment -
Junior syndicate - Taranaki
Middle syndicate - Huatoki
Senior syndicate - Paetoki
See below for the team logos.
You will notice some big poles being put up on the senior side beside the new classroom - these are our 'Totem poles' which is part of our 'beautification project' at school. These poles will be coloured the same as our whanau groups and be cut to different heights. It should look awesome!

NANO GIRL at Vogeltown!
On 20/11/19 Room 8 was lucky enough to have Nanogirl (Michelle Dickson) come to their classroom. This happened because one of Room 8’s students, Ashlee Hay, had won a competition. Nanogirl showed Room 8 some incredible science experiments like:
Unicorn Noodles
Chicken In A Cup
Spoon Experiment
Nanogirl is a New Zealand scientist who travels all around New Zealand doing live shows.

TARGETS FROM 2019
It would be wonderful to get every student at Vogeltown to be 'working at' their chronological age and stage in all three areas - this, of course, is our goal every year!
We put a lot of time and money in to planning programmes for students, providing extra interventions to help accelerate achievement and provide a lot of professional development for staff to help raise our achievement at Vogeltown.
This year, we have achieved the following targets for our students, we are very proud of the efforts our kids have made and we have already set our targets for 2020.
At the end of Term 3 2019:
* 73% of all of our students were achieving at their age and stage in maths
* 72% of all of our students were achieving at their age and stage in writing
* 78% of all of our students were achieving at their age and stage in reading
These are great results and the kids should be very proud. This is a lot of hard work over the year! The Vogeltown teaching team have made great progress with all students!
Teacher Only days 2020
We are working together with Highlands Intermediate, and other contributing schools to Highlands, to make sure our Teacher Only days in 2020 are on the same days, making it easier for our families in 2020.

The third day will be on Friday 31st July.
