Summer Recovery Program

Emails about the Summer Recovery Program were sent to parents of students who were in danger of failing one or more courses this school year. If you are interested in signing up your child, please get in touch with Dr. Johnson at wnjohnson@smcps.org or 301-863-4016 if you want to enroll your child in this Summer Recovery Program or have any questions. There will also be enrichment opportunities throughout the summer as well. Please see the information about the Summer Recovery Program below.

Curriculum will be delivered to students asynchronously through the online platform Edgenuity. Science, Social Studies, ELA, Math, and any credit-bearing courses will be available for recovery through Edgenuity.

Staff will be present at each school’s media center to provide “drop-in” support. Middle school students MUST be accompanied by an adult. The program will run from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. on the following days in July:

  • July 5 - July 7
  • July 10 - July 13
  • July 17 - July 20
  • July 24 - July 27
Virtual appointments/office hours will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for registered students. Although the media centers will be open for support and enrichment activities, no nurses will be on staff at the school.

The Esperanza Middle School Media Center will also facilitate enrichment activities. Please see the information sheet below for that information!
