A Note from Kerrie...
Here at the SLS, we will be working on hiring a new School Library System Specialist, putting in all those database orders, and planning another great year for you! It is going to be an exciting year next year with a revised Information Fluency Continuum, revised School Library Program Rubric, and other great learning opportunities! Maybe I'll even see you at one or more of our great learning opportunities this summer (see catalog below).
So, enjoy your vacation and rest up because next year we will be riding the waves of change and becoming beacons for learning.

There are two ways to access the journals:
1. Go to: http://bit.ly/ProJournals and log in using the information below. Using this method of viewing the journals will allow you to print articles.
2. Download the Flipster app from your favorite app store. Click on Get Started. Complete a search for Questar III BOCES. Choose Questar III BOCES and then enter the username and password. Articles are not able to be printed from the app.
The log in information is available by contacting Kerrie.
Please do not share this information with anyone else. The terms of the agreement specifically say that our subscriptions are for school librarians in our Questar III region ONLY. Once you are logged in and you choose a journal, you will see that you have access not only to this month's journal, but to previous issues as well. Each subscription has an unlimited number of users at a time so there is no need to worry about trying to access the journals one at a time.

Questar III School Library System Specialist
Questar III BOCES is looking for a full-time (10-month school schedule plus 20 days in summer) School Library Systems Specialist based out of our central office in Castleton, NY. This position is responsible for assisting school librarians and library staff within Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties. The incumbent works closely with school librarians to assist with database orders and to provide support related to system programs and services. The position conducts trainings on various topics and services; manages the library automation catalog patron and bibliographic records; maintains the system wide union catalog; actively participates in professional development; assists the Director with reporting requirements; and other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a valid NYS Library Media Specialist. Preferred candidates will have minimum of three years of SLMS experience and knowledge of library trends; knowledge of automated information management systems; excellent communication, organizational and computer skills; knowledge of instructional methods, strategies, and pedagogy; knowledge of curriculum development processes and learning theories; and knowledge of national and state standards for information and technology literacy.
