Culture Fair!

Mark your calendar for our Second Grade Culture Fair! All guardians/parents are invited on the morning of February 6th! Details regarding your child's designated presentation time will be sent home early next week.

Message from the PTO Regarding Clothing Donations!

This year while you clean out your closets, we would like you to donate your children's clothes to us. We are collecting clothes to donate to the Department of Children's Services. They are in need. Any size from newborn to young adult would be appreciated. You can drop them off at school. Contact Denise Huston for any questions at 317-626-9940 or denise.huston311@gmail.com.

Week B

Monday

Study your Wordly Wise Words

Read a book of choice for the remainder of the 20 minutes.


Tuesday

Do a writing sort to prepare for the writing sort we will do in class on Friday. Mix up the cards in a random order. Your child should flip each card over and then copy them in categories. Check for any words your child misspells.

Practice Math Fact Fluency either with flashcards or apps.


Wednesday

Study your Wordly Wise Words

Read a book of choice for the remainder of the 20 minutes.


Thursday

Read for 10 minutes. Words Their Way quiz on Friday.

Practice Math Fact Fluency either with flashcards or apps.

We are Learning...

Reading: We will be learning different characteristics of non-fiction text.

Mrs. Jackson's Math: We will begin a new topic on place value to 1,000. We will be using words, models, standard form and expanded form to represent numbers to 1,000. We will also be using our understanding of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits to compare two three-digit numbers.


Mrs. King's Math: We will continue our study of fractions and utilizing number lines to help us visualize fractions.


Writing: We are ready to begin our "How To" drafts! We will focus on making through material list, sequential steps, and helpful pictures!

Science: We will continue our study of Matter.


Social Studies: We will be learning about the different aspects of culture. Students will be focusing on heritage, education, family structure and religion.
