Dear Families,

We are already heading into the third week of October! 'Where has the time gone?

We can't complain about the weather! We have been taking full advantage of it and enjoying a lot of time outside! It is wonderful to be able to begin participating in extra-curricular clubs and field trips again. Tomorrow, our Kindergarten and Grade 1/2 class will be heading to Gould Lake for a day of Outdoor Education. Please ensure that they are dressed for the weather and have plenty to eat and drink. There is no drinking water on site.

Congratulations to our Cross Country team! We had 24 runners in total. 15 of those runners will be running this coming Thursday to the second meet. Well done, Grizzlies - we are so proud of you! Thank you to Mr. MacKenzie, Ms. Asselstine and parent volunteers for providing our students with this opportunity!

Our School Council is looking forward to meeting in person in the gym at 6:30 on Monday. New members are always welcome. Any parents attending will be asked to sign in complete a Covid Screener at the door. We are so grateful to our school council for their support with so many projects and learning opportunities. This week, classes will each be receive a load of new oudoor play equipment courtesy of SAC. Thank you!!!

Soctober donations continue to pour in! We now have an entire laundry basket full of socks! Thank you for your continued generosity. Our goal is to collect another full laundry basket! Do you think we can do it?

Looking forward to another great week!

Virtual Halloween Parade

We are so excited about the opportunity to have an on-line Halloween Parade!

Each student from Kindergarten to Grade 8 is invited to post a photograph of themselves dressed up in their full Halloween costume so that these pictures can be compiled into a video to share in classes on October 28th. The bonus, is that this year, parents will get a chance to see the show as well.

Please submit your costume pic before October 25th to ensure that we have time to put it all together. Thank you!

October Scholastic Orders Due October 28

Thank you for supporting our school/classroom libraries through Scholastic book orders. October order forms came home this week. Books may be ordered online or by phone using the code on the front page. Orders can be sent directly to your home, or, to avoid shipping costs, you can return them to school (with exact cash payment). Thank you.

LDSB Student Census Preliminary Report

The Limestone District School Board has released a preliminary report of data collected and next steps from the See Yourself In Limestone Student Census 2020.

The voluntary and confidential census asked a series of questions around identity and demographics to help the board better understand the diverse backgrounds, experiences, strengths and needs within our school communities. The overall goal of the student census is to improve achievement and well-being by identifying opportunities to help all students succeed.

Good luck to all of our runners who are participating!

Socktober Challenge Accepted!

We have been challenged by Joyceville Public School and we accepted! We wil be collecting new socks for Socks Kingston (@socks_kingston) in partnership with Fresh Radio 104.3. A friendly competition per class at GPS could be fun! The clear bin for sock donation is located just outside the library. Students will take their donations directly to the bin.
