How it was found

In 1848, some one who worked for John Sutter, in California, was digging and found a gold nugget. He started to dig more and found more gold. After a while hundreds of gold diggers cam running to California. After five months 80,000 people where in California's digging centers. Everyone who dug for the California's digging Centers were called the 49ers because that is when the gold rush started.

When more people herd of this they wanted to come to California right away. For people in Asia and Europe it would take even longer. All the miners that came over from Asia and Europe brought tents because they wanted all the gold for themselves so it would take all night. Some miners brought pans so they can find gold in the rivers also.
