Making A Positive Difference In Every Students Life!
Principal Message
Good Afternoon Parents,
For 17 years, I’ve worked in local schools for Gwinnett County Public Schools. My experience includes six years as a special education teacher, five years as an Assistant Principal, and six years as the principal of North Metro Academy of Performing Arts. Being a principal at NMAPA has been one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve truly enjoyed each day arriving at our school, whether on the Hopewell Baptist Church campus, 3159 Campus Drive, or here on Peachtree Elementary School campus. Seeing your children grow into young kings and queens will always fill my heart.
My heart has been heavy all month because I knew I would have to share with you that I’ve accepted a position in HR as a district diversity recruiter. This position is perfect for me because this will allow me to visit Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) and recruit talent to our district. I will begin on March 1st; however, we have two school events that I would like to invite everyone to. The first is our Black History Program on Friday, February 24th, at 2:00 in the cafeteria. Our students have been working extremely hard on their presentations, and I would love to see you there.
The second event is our Community School Meeting. The district values you and would like for you to share your thoughts with Dr. Al Taylor regarding the selection of the new principal. This will occur in the media center on Thursday, March 2nd, at 7:30 am. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early. This will allow you to share your feedback with district leaders on the next steps when selecting the next principal. If you are interested in participating, RSVP by email to me or Ms. Washingtonl.
Thank you again for allowing me to be your child’s principal for the past six years.
- Early Release Days are Wednesday, March 1, and Thursday, March 2. Students will be dismissed at 11:45 AM.
- Please have all conferences completed by Friday, March 10.
- Offer parents the opportunity to schedule a Parent/Teacher conference in person or virtually (Zoom).
- Please schedule phone conferences with parents who are unable to attend.
- Please document all conferences.
- Reminder: there are NO County Continuums to complete in Synergy!
Instead, teachers will share the DIBELS 8 screener data for kindergarten students (and any other students that received this screener) and the MAP universal screener information for kindergarten through fifth-grade students to communicate to families students’ strengths and areas of need in their literacy and math development.
