Week 9 Reminders
and Celebrations - Term 3 2021

From the Principal
Hi everyone and wishing you a really lovely weekend ahead. We hope you will find many moments for fun, relaxation and family time.
Field Events Day Years 4-6
We were very lucky that the weather cooperated for the St Emilie's House Carnival Field Events Day. Thank you to those parents and grandparents who came along to support the children, it is always really great to have you join us.
School Climate Survey
Below you will find a LETTER TO PARENTS explaining all about the School Climate Survey which has now opened. As you will read, all St Emilie's families are invited to complete a short survey that will give us important feedback in regard to various aspects of school life. A code and username was emailed to all families on Monday. The survey closes on the 24th September. Thank you for your time and support.
School Athletics Carnival next Friday
As you will have read we will be holding both the Junior and Senior carnivals onsite this year. While there are a few differences to travelling to an external facility we believe that the 'pros' of holding the carnival here at school are well worth trialing, as we approach this exciting day on the school calendar.
An Athletics Carnival Program is attached below and further details of how the day will run will come home on Monday, so please check your inbox and the school website.
Lunches on Carnival Day
All children in Kindy to Year 6 will have the opportunity to either bring their normal lunch or purchase a Subway Lunch for the day through School Lunch Online at http://www.schoollunchonline.com.au
Adult spectators and non-school aged children are invited to order a P&F Sausage Sizzle or Bacon and Egg burger - paper order forms have been sent home and a link to the order can also be found below.
Cake stall for the Athletics Carnival - can you help please?
The P&F are seeking donations of home-made cakes, biscuits and slices from families to run a cake stall on the day of the carnival.
If you are able to support in this way please drop your cake (or plate of slice/biscuits) to the front office, either the Thursday afternoon before the carnival (by 3.30pm) or first thing in the morning. (More details below). Thanks for your support!
Families leaving next year
If your family will be leaving our school community in 2022 you are asked to please let us know by emailing the Office and/or leadership as soon as possible. Many thanks, as this assists us to plan and to offer places to new families on the waitlist.
Please be reminded that unless we are given one full term's notice of an intention to leave St Emilie's, a family will be charged a full term's school fees.
Class Placement
Below is a link to a document that explains our position on class placement here at St Emilie's. Please read it carefully when you have a moment - we hope it brings further clarity to why we feel confident in our decision-making. In saying this, if you wish to make a request please place it in writing to the Principal by Friday 22nd October.
K-6 Open Night (onsite this year) on Wednesday 15th September - 4.00pm-600pm.
If you would like an opportunity to pop in and see some of the learning opportunities your children have had this term we would love to see you there! All classrooms will be open until 6.00pm only. (Please don't leave arriving until the end - as gates will close soon after 6.00pm). Please read more about the Book Fair to be held on Open Night, below.
All the very best everyone!
Kind regards
Tania Thuijs
Principal

Carnival Sausage Sizzle - Order Form
Any chance you could Bake a Cake for our Athletics Carnival Cake Stall next Friday?

The P&F are seeking donations of home-made cakes, biscuits and slices or, if in a rush - bought cupcakes or doughnuts :) from families to run a cake stall on the day of the carnival.
If you are able to support in this way please drop your cake (or plate of slice/biscuits etc) to the front office, either on the Thursday afternoon before the carnival (by 3.30pm) or first thing on Friday morning.
Ideally cakes /slices/biscuits will arrive :
- on a disposable plate/container
- covered with plastic wrap
- labelled with the name of the cake/slice and a list of the ingredients.
If you can't bake a cake, you may like to buy a cake from the stall on the day to support the P&F and provide your family with a delicious, home-made surprise for afternoon tea! :)
Thanks Mums and Dads!

Don't forget to bring some cash - you've gotta be in it to win it!
St Emilie's School Climate Survey is NOW OPEN. Your feedback and your voice really matter to us!

Thank you Kylie!
Kylie's weekly efforts as our School Social Worker are making a positive difference in the lives of children, families and staff in our school. Her role involves working as another key point of contact for all members of our school community - especially when dealing with personal challenges, either at home or at school.
If you would like to connect with Kylie for a chat or a meeting to discuss your child's social/emotional needs and/or challenges you will find details below.
Parents are strongly advised to reach out if you are not doing ok ... either to us or to other professionals. Good mental health is such an important part of a happy and healthy family life - you matter!

A GREAT PRESSIE FOR THE CHRISTMAS STOCKING!
Our Book Fair is a really great opportunity to purchase a quality book for your child and family! Perhaps you might grab some books as Christmas presents or birthdays!
Each year some families also very generously purchase a book for our school library which is acknowledged by way of a sticker insert inside the cover.
This year we have opted to go with a different company, as we really wanted to make sure that the Fair was all about the books (rather than the merchandise that has little to do with reading).

2021 Sacramental Dates

Kindy Enrolments for 2022 - do you have a child starting Kindy next year?
If you have a child starting next year please ensure that you have completed an enrolment form. We still have some spaces so please spread the word!
Kindy enrolments are an exciting time for our school - we love to meet new families and touch base with our existing families!

Social Worker PARENT REFERRAL and CONSENT FORM
School social workers focus on the student in the school environment and work collaboratively with principals and teachers to minimise the impacts of personal, family and school difficulties and, where possible, remove any barriers to learning.
With students as their focus, school social workers provide consultancy, advice and support to principals, teachers and other school staff and to families so that they can best meet the needs of individual and groups of children and young people. There is a strong emphasis on individual student and family counselling and support. This is an amazing opportunity for kids, staff and families and one we have wanted in our school for some time.
Please find below the Parent Referral and Consent Form to access our School Social Worker.
You are asked to read the procedure carefully and also note that Kylie only works two days a week. While she will do her very best to accomodate all family referrals, patience may be required as she prioritises her case load and allows time for observation visits, classroom support and playground involvement.
