A Window Into Learning
Take a peek into our thinking, creating and innovating!
Just a Teaser of a Newsletter
Mrs. McDevitt's heart isn't prepared to write the final newsletter so we will all live in the world of denial and enjoy this abbreviated edition. Look for another newsletter late Wednesday night.
It looks like we will have a big turnout for Room 116's Family Snack on Tuesday at 1:30. No need to come early. We will not start without you. We are almost finished with our secret that is destined to be a family favorite. It is hard work to create a masterpiece for the people that we love most in the world.
Heads up: Mrs. McDevitt allowed the children to design the snack menu. Some items had to be ruled out because they were not classified as snack food rather those items were party foods. The spread of snacks will make you smile if you look at it through the eyes of a first grader.
Yearbooks will be delivered on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the students can bring their yearbooks back and we will exchange autographs only on designated pages. For those students that did not purchase a yearbook, Mrs. McDevitt will have autograph books available so that everyone can get the signatures of Room 116.
Wednesday the students can bring a small soft, stuffed, furry friend to school to do some quiet buddy reading together. Please do not send a stuffed animal of strong sentimental value because sometimes accidents do happen.
Italian Ice on Thursday of this week for $1.00.
There is a PRS football scrimmage on Monday at 4:00 to conclude spring practice. The scrimmage will be located next to the modular building. There is an entrance fee of $1.00 for students and $2.00 for adults and concessions will be on sale. Come out and support the football program and meet the new head coach! Bring chairs or blankets to sit on.

Community 1's Market
Room 116 had a busy week finalizing our products, monitoring quality control, creating a marketing plan, signing up for jobs and making a wish list of what to buy. Next week, we are going to count the money that each of our products brought in. The day of market was a joyful time. The students loved selling almost as much as being a consumer. Mrs. McDevitt is a little biased but she had to smile at the tagline under our shop's sign that was created with the students thinking and not hers. Nothing beats class pride!
Enjoy the video below that shows the events of the market from this past week. It is a little long but Mrs. McDevitt knows you will enjoy seeing the students engaged in their learning. No music this week so just hum the soundtrack from Disney's Little Mermaid!

The Mystery Reader Grand Finale
We had multiple days of Mystery Readers. There is something special about having a loved one come spend time with your classmates. Room 116 is fortunate that our families love to read as much as Mrs. McDevitt does. Mrs. McDevitt is positive that her students will be life long readers and will pass down the love of literacy to their families too.
We will have a quiet week of learning this week as Mrs. McDevitt prepares her heart for what will happen on Thursday at 3:00. Thank you for supporting Room 116 and Pike Road Schools!
