THIS is the scheduling link, or you may use the QR code to access the scheduling page. As in the past, we are also sharing our CONFERENCE PERIOD SHOUT OUT form. The surest way to encourage positive behavior is to acknowledge it. If you see something good in your child or a staff member, please take a moment to share.

Music Notes
How many of you know your instrument families? If you ask a Kindergarten-2nd grader, they will tell you the families we have learned so far and the instruments that go with them: String, Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion. We have a few more weeks learning about our instruments and the orchestra and then will be moving on to some folk dancing. The 3rd-5th graders have also done some review of instrument families, learned the notes on the staff of the treble clef, and continue to prepare songs in 4th grade for our Link Up Symphony in May. If you get a chance, play a piece or youtube of orchestra music during the next month!
Revisiting Class Charters
This month in first grade, our students are revisiting their class Charter. A Charter is a lot like a class promise, where students commit to certain actions that will help create a positive classroom community. Every classroom created a Charter at the beginning of the year, but were taught that these promises are living documents and can be changed as needed. In Mrs. Graves’ class, students decided they wanted to continue feeling calm, happy, ready to learn, welcome and safe. Their signatures at the bottom of their class charter signify their commitment to actions that will help achieve these feelings in themselves and others. Ask your child what feeling words their class is committed to experiencing within their classroom community!

HHS Early Childhood Education Preschool Lab
Dear Parents,
Your child is cordially invited to participate in Hudsonville High School's Early Childhood Education Preschool Lab being held this year at the Hudsonville Early Childhood Education Center, 5535 School Street, Hudsonville, MI. This preschool experience will be a wonderful introduction to "school" for your child, as well as providing a learning lab for our advanced students taking the Early Childhood Education class.
At preschool, children will be involved in activities that work to encourage physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Some of the activities your child will participate in are circle time, art projects, cooperative games, music, songs, story time, and active play. The lessons and activities will be planned and led by the Early Childhood Education students and will be supervised by Mrs. Bennett, the classroom teacher. Mrs. Bennett has both the proper educational credentials along with many years of teaching experience (22 High School and 6 Elementary School) that will help guide the students as they practice their teaching skills. We will also have the assistance of a Paraprofessional this year.
To be eligible to participate in the program, your child must be at least 3 years old by March 20, 2023, fully toilet trained, and must not turn 5 before this same date. We would prefer if children are able to attend ALL DAYS (see below) that their session meets as this provides consistency for the preschoolers and helps the High School students to know how many children to plan for. This program is open to children either with or without prior (or current) preschool experience, and students do not have to reside within the HPS district to participate. In the past, this has been offered as a free program. Due to some licensing changes and enhanced security measures to keep children safe, we have instituted a $30.00 fee. If you can not pay this fee and would still like your child to participate, please contact Mrs. Bennett.
There will be two sessions of preschool this year, one session on Monday/Wednesday, the other on Tuesday/Thursday, both held from 9:15am - 11:30am. You may also choose to register for both sessions. The dates are as follows: Monday/Wednesday: March 20, 22, 27. Apr. 17, 19, 24, 26. May 8, 10, 15. Tuesday/Thursday: March 21, 23, 28. Apr. 18, 20, 25, 27. May 9, 11, 16. You may notice that these dates are a little sporadic. Although this is not ideal for preschoolers, the dates allow us to meet licensing regulations. To register, please follow this link and click on Early Childhood Preschool/Care. Then choose section 225 T/Th, 235 M/W, or register for both sections if you would like your child to attend all four days.

This program typically fills up very quickly, so if you are interested, please don't wait! Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis and we often have to turn kids away. If you know of anyone else that you think might like to take part in this program, please feel free to forward this letter on. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 669-1500 ext. 2344 or through email at abennett@hpseagles.net. We are looking forward to working with your child!
