Our hearts are deeply saddened this week with the loss of Dorothy Loftice who was a prime example of what it means to be a school volunteer and active PTA board member. She served our students and our school well in the ways she lead the activities that our kids will always remember. Dorothy had a true servant's heart, and we will always miss her and the smile she took with her wherever she went. Thank you for continuing to join us in praying for the entire Loftice family, especially her husband and her children.

Principal's Pulse

Thank you to our parents, volunteers and PTA who made last week a special week for our teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. We had many treats and special surprises which made this an even more terrific week with our students. Thank you on behalf of our staff for making us feel special.

I would like to invite you to join me in the library on Tuesday, May 17th from 11:45 - 12:45 for a Brown Bag Lunch with our Superintendent. Dr. Spies will discuss the future plans of a second elementary school as our enrollment numbers are increasing. This will be great time to get informed and to ask your questions. Bring your lunch and a friend!

As the end of the year is approaching, it is even more important to keep your normal routines going for your children at home to help them continue to be successful at school. Please keep reading with them each night, getting to bed as close to regular bedtime as possible, eating a healthy breakfast and being on time to school. We appreciate your support in the education of your child.

Spend time with your family holding them close during this 3 day weekend. Monday is a school holiday as we did not use the day as a bad weather day this year.

Brown Bag Lunch with Dr. Spies - This Tuesday

Come join us in the library on Tuesday, May 17th from 11:45 - 12:45 to hear from Dr. Spies regarding the future plans for a second elementary campus as our enrollment numbers increase. Please bring your lunch, your questions and a friend.

Happenings Around the Campus

1st Grade

Our 1st graders are learning more about Google Slides as they create presentations on the animals they are researching in class.

2nd Grade

Our 2nd graders enjoyed time "Reading Under the Stars" during a camp-like atmosphere. It's so fun to see how much they have all grown as readers this year.

Music Club

The 4th graders who participated in our after school music club performed for their parents last week. They played our new instruments, sang, danced and demonstrated their rhythmic skills. Thank you to Mrs. Beard for providing this experience for our students.

VAHS Jazz Band Visits Our Campus

We loved listening to the Jazz Band today! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. We want to thank Mr. Fulton, the HS Band Director, for making this happen.

4th Grade Special Concert

Our 4th graders were entertained by Mrs. Beard's husband today too. We've got the music in us! Thank you for sharing your talent, Mr. Beard.

Important Cafeteria Information

Van Alstyne ISD Child Nutrition wants to give parents a friendly reminder that starting on April 29, 2016, students will not be allowed to charge meals for the remainder of the school year. This is to ensure Child Nutrition has all account balances in the positive. If you have any questions please call Elementary Cafeteria Manager Stephanie Lewis. We appreciate your understanding and patience with this situation. (903)482-8830

Please ensure your child's immunizations are up to date!

Students must have all immunizations current in order to be placed on a class list for the 2016-2017 school year. Please see the information below to determine which immunization(s) your child may need. For our campus, this mostly affects incoming Pre-K and Kinder students.
