Fourth Grade Mini Mall

The cafeteria was BURSTING with energy last Friday! Congratulations to our fourth grade entrepreneurs for hosting a successful Mini Mall! Fourth graders learned a lot about economics and marketing through this hands-on activity. The merchandise was top-notch!

Second Grade Flat Stanley

The Second Grade Team is in the midst of a very successful Flat Stanley project. Flat Stanley is a book by Jeff Brown. It's about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished "as flat as a pancake" when a bulletin board falls on him. Stanley is very, very flat but otherwise fine. The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers some real advantages to being flat. He can slide under doors, go down into sidewalk grates, and even fold himself up small enough to fit into an envelope. The team put out flat paper dolls that they call Flat Stanleys, and they sent them to residents and businesses all over Michigan. They asked recipients to write a letter or email telling them something about their city and the exciting things Flat Stanley saw or did while he was at their residence or business. To date, our second graders have heard from 39 residents and 40 businesses all over Michigan! They even received treats and goodies! Way to go, second graders!

Fifth Grade Wax Museum

Congratulations to our fifth graders on an AMAZING Wax Museum last month! Fifth graders represented a famous person who made a positive contribution to society. They had to research biographies and create a speech that summarized the life of the famous person. We were amazed with how well the fifth graders presented themselves when asked to recite their character's life story from memory!

Annual Talent Show

HUGE thanks goes out to Dawn Hach and the Talent Show Committee for an AMAZING job! The Talent Show last month highlighted some of the many talents we have around Ridge Wood! Students in grades 2-5 had the opportunity to share their special skills. There were singers, dancers, and comedians. Even Elvis made an appearance!

Rocket Rumba

Rocket Rumba was an incredible event! Special thanks to Lesley Harding, Lisa McKnight-Jackson, and the Rocket Rumba Committee. The night was full of adventures from bouncy houses, wild animals, and magic shows to treats, crafts, and games. Families and students had a blast!

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Thank you for your patience as we practice our new pick-up procedures! A few reminders:

1. Please remember to PULL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE END OF THE RED ZONE before picking up.

2. Unless a teacher/volunteer tells you you to do so, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE A SPACE between your car and the car in front of you.

3. Please END ALL CELL PHONE CONVERSATIONS when entering the drop-off/pick-up lane.

4. Your child will wait in the coned-off area until your car is pulled as far forward as you can go and we let them know it's safe to get in your car.

THANK YOU for your helping us keep our children safe and for helping us keep the traffic flowing!
