Week 2.3 - October 10 - October 13, 2023
Principal's Message
Hello Staff,
The Professional Development day provided us with meaningful information that allowed us, as a campus to set a goal for Domain I- Student Achievement. The component scale score of a 43 will ensure that we attain our goal of a "C" in Student Achievement. Collectively, as Harwell Middle School, I am confident that we will reach the goal we need; we need to remain focused on best practices during instruction. The challenge remains in informing each of our students their growth score for Domain II - School Progress. More information will be forthcoming during our department meetings. I appreciate your growth mindset and continued efforts to be a lifelong learner.
This week, 10/10 - 10/13, we kick off our HMS Spirit Week and our Homecoming dance is on Friday, October 13, 2023. I encourage all of us to take part in showing our Lion Pride and showcase our school spirit!
I appreciate all that you do for our students. I am looking forward to another great week!
Your Principal,
Ms. Monica Perez
Curriculum Look-fors
Administration will look for the implementation of activities provided to you on the Enrichment Google Classroom. The Language Proficiency activities provide all students with practice in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The iReady lessons serve as additional practice in Reading and Math that students need in order to close the gaps.
We continue to look for learning connections. It is important to continue to state to the Content and Language objectives daily. When students know what is expected of them and why they are learning a particular topic, they are more likely to engage actively in the learning process.
Reminder:
Your weekly lesson plans need to be posted outside your doors.
Planning ahead for the week of 10/16/2023:
