Updated Guidelines and Procedures for Preventing and Responding to Potential or Active COVID-19

The SFCS Guidelines and Procedures for Preventing and Responding to Potential or Active COVID-19 has been updated based upon the updated definition of close contact made by the CDC this past Wednesday. This is the definition that the SCDHEC office is using when working with schools in contact tracing and deciding what students and faculty members will need to quarantine or isolate in the event of an active case in our community. The change is in green and you can check our the update directly from the CDC website.

1st Grade

The 1st graders had a busy week! Mrs. Safe taught them how to use the laptop computers. They are very excited to have laptops. They also learned about spiders this week in science. They made models of spiders from Styrofoam balls. They also watched a mystery science video on spiders and did an activity where they created a spider and made it run up a string.

5th Grade

The 5th graders did an outstanding job on their Mystery Book Reports. Their Haunted Houses add a perfect touch of Halloween to their classroom and hallway.

6th Grade - Religion

6th grade students have been busy making their own rosaries! Final product coming soon!

8th Grade - Social Studies

8th graders enjoyed complementing their unit on the American Revolution with Hamilton, the Musical. There was a “Hamilton history scavenger hunt“ at the end of the musical they enjoyed in partners!

Middle School Math

The 6th grade had a fun time practicing fraction equations by playing online Jeopardy. The 7th grade Accelerated Pre-Algebra Class was working with partners this week to solve multiplication and division of monomials. Halloween Trunk o' Treat - Friday, October 30th

On Friday, October 30th St. Francis Catholic School will be having our infamous Trunck o' Treat Halloween Parade. The parade will begin at 1:00pm sharp and will begin with PreK. Classes will be spaced out more on the schedule so the parade may take a little longer this year.

It will be a new path this year since we will not be visiting the residents at Bloom. We still have many spots available for parents to decorate a trunk. If you would like to participate by decorating a trunk this year then please email Mrs. Markey at Parents that will be handing out candy at a trunk must wear a mask.

It will be a dress down day for the students prior to the parade. Students need to wear the portions of their costume that would require them to change privately in the bathroom to school that day. All other portions may be brought to school in a bag and may be put on in the classroom. Students will need to wear a face covering during the parade. As always, costumes must be appropriate and modest. Nothing too gory or revealing.

Parents will be able to watch the parade at a designated area this year from the church parking lot. Parents may not walk with the classes. Parties will also be closed to the students and teachers only.

We will send more information about the parade route and other information as it becomes available.
