5. Is your family, or someone you know, in need of Resources during the COVID-19 Pandemic? Check out the download section below for a document titled Resources for Families.
6. NEW RESOURCE: BeWellIndiana.org is designed to address the increase in anxiety, depression and other mental health issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic, including both first-time issues as well as preexisting mental health concerns. According to the Indiana FSSA, the website will initially focus on various mental health challenges due to COVID-19, but will be updated regularly and will continue to evolve as a resource beyond the current crisis. Hoosiers can visit the website to find trusted resources curated by FSSA’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction, including information ranging from coping mechanisms, crisis counseling, how to self-monitor for signs of stress, domestic violence resources, substance use disorder and recovery, and tips for helping children, youth and teens. Videos featuring medical experts, persons in recovery, and other practicing Indiana clinicians addressing specific mental health topics are also available on the site.
7. FREE School Meal Kits for all children 18 and under can be picked up on May 4 AND
The Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County will be providing free snacks and meals to all children in Hancock County under 18 years of age on Friday, May 1, from 4:30-6:30pm -- first come, first serve, while supplies last. The drive-thru pick-up will take place at the front entrance of the club in Greenfield, 715 E. Lincoln St. AND ITOWN Church is distributing food on Saturday, May 2, from 11:30am-1:00pm, at Riley Park, 280 Apple St. in Greenfield. AND Saturday May 2nd, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Greenfield Elks will be providing a free drive up spaghetti lunch @ 820 S. State St. in Greenfield. Drive up service, tell how many meals you need, and the meals will be handed to you through your window.
8. Book Fair Are you looking for new paperback books for your kids? We have an online book fair that is open through this Sunday! All purchases will be mailed directly to their home. All proceeds benefit our library. Go to this link bit.ly/WestonBookFair
9. TEACHER REQUESTS/CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS: (Found in our Student Handbook) Upon the recommendations of the current classroom teachers, student assignments are made each spring. Parents certainly have an interest in their child’s education and sharing in the classroom assignment is welcomed. In early spring, (by May 1st), parents who wish to have a particular assignment must write a letter to the office of the principal requesting at least two choices and stating the reason for their special request. Although requests will be considered, it may not be possible to fulfill them and properly balance classrooms. Following the creation of a student roster, no students who have been assigned to a teacher will be changed to another class unless enrollment dictates the need to do so. DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED . . . . Send your email requests to mdavis@gcsc.k12.in.us by May 15th.
