Happy New Year!
Welcome Back!
As we return from the winter break, the health and safety of our students and staff continues to be priority one. Thank you for your support in following our district health and safety plan, for monitoring your child's health, and communicating with us. Our students have been doing an outstanding job, and we will continue to practice social distancing, mask wearing, and our safety protocols to ensure the safety of all.
Please help to spread the word - Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is open! See details in the flyer below for more information. The earlier families register, the more accurate our enrollment numbers will be for fall planning!
Wishing all of our Linden families a Happy New Year filled with joy, hope, and good health!

HELPFUL LINKS
In 2021, Linden will be working towards designation as a No Place for Hate school. No Place for Hate is an initiative of the Anti-Defamation League. It enables our school to challenge anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry in all forms. No Place for Hate aims to reduce bias and bullying, increase appreciation for diversity, and build a community of respect.
We are looking for parents and students who would be interested in volunteering to join a committee with teachers to help Linden become an officially designated No Place for Hate School. The committee will meet one to two times a month at 3:00 to plan school-wide activities.
If you or your 4th, 5th, or 6th grade student is interested in joining the committee, please fill out the parent or student application below by Friday, January 15th. Students in grades 4-6 will have a small presentation about No Place for Hate next week as well as instructions on how to fill out the application. All applicants will be notified of their status on January 20th.
Due to the scope of this initiative and COVID restrictions, the committee size must be limited.
If you have any questions about the initiative, you can contact Dr. Graz at 267-893-4432.

Linden is working to become a No Place for Hate School, and we would love your help! No Place for Hate aims to reduce bias and bullying, increase appreciation for diversity, and build a community of respect. In order to be an official No Place for Hate School, we need to plan a variety of school-wide events. We are asking students that have passion for equality and respect for all, to join a committee with Linden teachers and parents to help plan these events.

Hey 5th and 6th Graders....Join Linden’s Reading Olympics Team!
Reading Olympics is open to 5th and 6th grade student!
The program, hosted by the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, is a celebration of reading, culminating with a competition in the Spring. Students work together in teams to read from a list of 25 books. We will meet virtually (most likely after school) in the months leading up to the competition to chat about books and prepare for the competition.
It will be a virtual event, using Kahoot! We will work as teams to compete at a designated time between 4/6/21 and 4/16/21.
To join our team, you need to read 1 book from the 2021 Reading Olympics List. The list can be found on Linden's Library Website or simply click here.
- All RO books are available in the Linden Library. Students can place holds through the Destiny Library Catalog. Books will be delivered to your homeroom. Books are also available in several digital formats. Follow the links on the library website to access these.
NEXT, you need to provide EVIDENCE of your reading.
- Create a document on Office 365. It can be a Word document or even a PowerPoint. Summarize the story, explain your favorite scene or the most important scene in the story. Some readers like to jot down notes as they read to help them remember. You can send those notes, too. Basically, you just need to SHOW that you read and understand 1 story.
Email Mrs. Free dfree@cbsd.org with your Word document or Powerpoint.
THIS IS DUE FRIDAY, JANUARY 15TH!
I can’t wait to get started!
Happy Reading!

STUDENT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Student Absences
In-Person Absences: Students will be marked absent if they are not in school that day. If the student should be physically present but is participating virtually due to COVID related concerns, the teacher will mark the attendance as "Participating Virtually". This will give the student credit for attendance.
Online Absences: If a student does not attend class, the student will be marked absent until we receive the communication from parents. Note: If a student logs-in initially, but leaves the call or does not engage, the comment "Virtually Cut" will be added to the comments section.
Please contact Cindy Faville in the Linden Main office at cfaville@cbsd.org with any questions.
Questions about COVID-19?
As the COVID cases rise in the community, the Central Bucks Nurses are working hard to keep everyone healthy and safe. Our school nurse, Mrs. Tina Boyer, is here to help! If you have questions, feel free to email or call her. She can help with:
- Determine if your child(ren) is a close contact.
- Explain the isolation and quarantine process.
- Provide guidance for symptoms and management.
- And more! .... just ask.
Mrs. Tina Boyer's email address is tboyer@cbsd.org, or call the Linden main office at 267-893-4401 to be connected to the Health Room.
Universal Masking Orders Update
The secretary of health has directed that everyone should wear an appropriate face covering, both indoors and outdoors.
While the commonwealth’s order allows for the wearing of a face shield, the secretary’s orders clearly state that a face shield should be considered only if the wearing of a cloth face covering is otherwise not possible. Please visit the commonwealth’s website for more detailed information.
- Please remember to wear your mask when you are on school property, even if it is to pick-up materials or drop-off your child(ren).
- Please wash your child's mask properly and routinely.
- If you are in the car rider line, please stay off your cell phone and do not back up. Please wait until the car line moves. We ask this in the interest of student safety.
THANK YOU!

Family Travel Update
If your child(ren) is traveling this holiday season, complete a Request for Approved Absence Form. Out of an abundance of caution, students who travel must refrain from in-person instruction.
In compliance with the district's Health and Safety Plan, students who travel will not be able to return for a period of 10 days without testing, or after 7 days with a negative test on or after day 5. Any questions about this procedure can be directed to Cindy Faville in the Linden Office, at cfaville@cbsd.org.
Live-Streaming
Virtual instruction is available for any student who is absent more than 2 days for COVID related causes, such as illness or travel.
Once a teacher is notified, we will make arrangements including a materials pick-up at school. Live streaming will begin on day 3 of the absence, or earlier if feasible. This instruction may vary slightly depending upon the academic needs and age of the student. Note: knowing that the majority of students in the class are in-person, there will be times when the teacher is not in camera view.
