iReady - Preparing for the 2nd Diagnostic
Have students observe and reflect.
- What were your scores on the first diagnostic?
- What are your strengths?
- What do you want to improve on?
Have students set a goal.
- What do you want your next diagnostic score to be?
Have students think about the test.
- What will you do to make sure you do your best on the diagnostic?
Set a classroom goal to improve as a class in reading and math and celebrate when it is achieved!
We will data chat about grade level/classroom data
This and That
School Needs/Wants
An email was sent out Friday asking for any needs/wants. Please reply to that email with what you need or want (as specific as possible). Think about what you are running low on, or are going to need either later this school year or even to start next year.
Schedules and Timeliness
Schedules have gotten a little loose lately! Please be mindful of your schedule. Many people use those schedules to determine their services for groups or their own schedules. 2-3 minutes extra outside can throw someone else's day off. Being 5-10 minutes late could mean students are not getting their services, whether IEP, Title 1, or ELL as they need. If your schedule has changed for any reason, please communicate that with all those who serve your students and the office.
Monitoring iReady
Now that licenses are assigned, it is the classroom teacher's responsibility to monitor that licenses are being used. Students who have licenses should know when they can login for their iReady minutes. Encourage not just the amount of time, but the quality of time on lessons (meaning HIGH pass rate).
Classroom Doors and Valuables
Classroom doors should be locked when you are not in your classroom. Chromebooks carts that are stored in the hallway should be locked when not in use. Personal items should be put away, and if possible locked.
SMART Board Filters
Clean at least once a week - FILTER FRIDAY! If you have not cleaned them yet - do so! If you don't know how - ask Jen Bearden for help!
Grades in Infinite Campus
Put in grades twice a month (approximately the 15th and 30th).
Birthday and Lounge Duty
School Success Squad assigned birthday treats and lounge duty for the year. If your grade level or team is on the duty for the month, please also have your students make some art work or cards for our business partners (Scholastic, Missouri River Regional Library, and Oasis United Church of Christ). The schedule is included below.
Health Screening Information
The purpose for offering health screens is for everyone to receive information on their current health. The screens consist of Blood Pressure check, Hip to Waist ratio, InBody scan, and a fasting blood draw that will give you markers on Cholesterol, Glucose, Iron, Sodium and much more! The extra bonus is that anyone that attends will be eligible to save $30/month on their insurance premium.

Quarterly Celebrations Update: We will still be having them but it will look a little different. We will be having them monthly. For second quarter, we will be having the celebration next Wednesday, January 15th. The celebration with be done within your grade level, meaning grade levels will be in charge of setting up the time that they want to celebrate. All celebrations must be done on Wednesday. For this quarter, Mrs. Milhollin will be buying chips for all the students who have earned it. You can decide if you want to give the students just the chips or have extra recess with the chips.
We read and discussed this article: Tear Down Your Behavior Chart
In moving towards a Trauma Informed School we need to be cognizant of not publicly displaying student discipline information, this could include clip charts, individual behavior charts, and other behavior programs, including Classroom Dojo. Think about how you are using your behavior charts? In a true PBIS model, it would not be to "call out" the student who is not doing their job, but to acknowledge those students who are doing their job.
