Notes from Principal Klueppel...
Today was the perfect kind of day to kick off the 2020/2021 School Year. All staff, including BG came out to welcome our kindergarten, first, second, and STRIVE students. Parents of K-2 & STRIVE students all earned a Gold Star today for certifying their children and initialing those backpack tags- well done!!
I spent a lot of time walking through the building peeking into classes today. I saw students and teachers enjoying great books together, participating in morning meetings, and unpacking their school supplies- it felt like a regular First Day of School. I saw all 3rd-5th grade teachers engaging with their teachers in a remote fashion.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as detailed communication continues to be shared. I am humbled to work in a community that puts kids first. Through our collective efforts and energy this is going to be another outstanding year for our young Bobcats!
PTO News
From the Nurse
Welcome back Bobcats!
This year, In order to keep everyone safe, the district has required that we have an isolation room for students and staff that present with COVID-19 symptoms. This room is seperate from where kids are treated for daily health office needs. Even though it is called an isolation room the student will not be left unsupervised. It is a nice calming space for them to rest safely away from others until they can be picked up.
Due to the possibility of disease transmission through shared items, the Health Office has decided to temporarily suspend the practice of providing a change of clothes to students who need them. Please send an extra set of clothing (shirt, pants, underwear, socks) in a Ziplock bag, labeled with your child's name, to school on the first day. This bag will be stored in the classroom to be used in case of accidents or spills. If a student does not have an extra set of clothes to change into when necessary, parents will be called to come to school to provide them. Thank you for your understanding.
Just a reminder you have to self certify every morning before school. This can not be done the night before due to the system resetting at midnight.. Thank you for doing such a great job these last few days. If you don't have a thermometer at home please call me or the main office and we will provide assistance.
One last thing please get your Health forms in!! Kindergarten and new students to Illinois need Up to date immunization record and an Illinois Physical, Dental and Eye exam on file. All 2nd graders need a dental exam (done in last 18 months) on file.
Thank you for a great start and please contact me in the Health office with any questions or concerns. (331) 228- 2104 or leeanna.anzaldi@gmail.com

Back to School Information from District 303
Please visit our site to find the Response Protocols in case of a positive COVID-19 case in our schools.
We have also posted food service procedures for both in-person and remote learners.
Finally, Please take the time to watch the Welcome Back video message from Dr. Pearson that includes information about processes and protocols for the new school year.
D303 Student Health Certification Procedures
The below steps outline D303 procedures for Student Health Certification created in conjunction with guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control. The steps in this document are written for students coming onsite the week of 8/10 and are subject to change before the start of school.
On a daily basis, parents (on behalf of their students) and staff will be required to self-certify that they are not experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms prior to entering a D303 school building. NOTE: The self-certification must be completed before your child comes for meet and greet. When you arrive for the meet and greet we will ask you to show the green pass on your phone or the ticket that you have printed.
During the school year you will log in each day and answer the screening questions before your child leaves for school. A luggage tag on your child's backpack will be used for you to indicate a "green pass" or "a clear to come to school". This process will be shared with you next week.
Parents
Please use this Self Certification web site and login using your HAC Parent username and password.
Once you are logged in, for each of your students please read the screening questions to determine if your student meets the criteria and is healthy to come to school each day.
You will select No to each of the questions if your student is healthy and ready to
come to school. You will select Yes for any of the questions if your student is experiencing any of the symptoms related to COVID-19.
Once you make your selection, please click Submit. When you select No, the app will present you with a Green Pass; When you select Yes, a Warning will be displayed indicating that your student should not attend school that day
This video was created for our high school parents self-certifying their students for athletic practice. However the same process for be used for the meet and greet and during the school year.
Lunch Information
Dear District 303 Families,
Since March, District 303 has collaborated with our food service vendors to provide grab and go meals for students to enjoy at home. As we move into the school year, we want to make you aware of the procedures for making sure that students continue to receive meals, whether they are learning in-person or remotely.
The tables you will find in this document outline the procedures we have put in place to ensure that our student will continue to have access to healthy meals. Unlike the summer food service program, families must specify the name of the child who is receiving the meal. Families who choose to purchase meals for their children will have their PushCoin accounts debited, unless eligible for free lunch.
For more information about eligibility for free and reduced lunch, please contact Patricia Townsend at 331.228.6529.
