Read Across America Week

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Mueller Celebrates Read Across America Week

Mueller students and staff will celebrate Read Across America Week March 3rd-6th. We have lots of activities planned to celebrate the joy and importance of reading including a Read Across America reading contest between our Believe and Achieve teams, a "Fox in Sox" sock drive for the homeless, a dress as your favorite book character day and more!

Monday-Thursday, March 3rd-6th:

  • Believe/Achieve Read Across America Contest

Challenge your students to read at least 10 minutes each day. Ten minutes will equal 1 mile on the U.S. Map displayed on the library windows. E-mail the number of minutes your class reads each day to Mrs. Vaughan. Let's see who can read from the west coast to the east coast first!

  • "Fox in Sox" Sock Drive

Bring new pairs of socks for children and adults to the library to be donated to a local homeless shelter

  • Dr. Seuss Book Talks on V-Brick

Teachers will be talking about their favorite Dr. Seuss books on the V-Brick announcements

Wednesday, March 5th:

  • Storybook Character Dress-Up Day

Start planning your outfit for storybook character dress up day. Students may come to school in clothes representing a favorite storybook character. Clothing and footwear must comply with district guidelines for dress code and be suitable for participation in P.E. and outdoor recess. No masks!!!
