We Are Together Tamanend!
March 17, 2017

Crazy for You, Crazy Good!
Congratulations to all students, staff and parents who participated in this year’s musical, Crazy for You. It was incredible! It takes a lot of IF-YET-TRUST to pull off such excellent performances. You showed us all just what can happen when we are truly Tamanend Together… bravo! Special thanks to our directors: Mrs. Christa Reitz, Mr. Sanchez, and Mrs. Wilhelm; and we thank the rest of our teachers who support our directors and students: Mrs. Mancini, Mrs. McFarland, Miss Roth, and Miss Vitacco.
C-SPAN Student Cam Honorable Mentions!
Congratulations to the following students for receiving Honorable Mention in the C-SPAN Student Cam Competition:
Luke W., & Srikar Y. for "The Tipping Point"
Emma B., Andrew B., & Akaash S. for "Drawing the Line"
The video challenge was to respond to the prompt: "Your message to Washington: What is the most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to address in 2017?" Each of our honored student groups will be awarded $250 and their videos will air on C-SPAN. Representatives from C-SPAN will come to Tamanend later in the year to recognize these students. Additionally, the C-SPAN News Bus will once again visit Tamanend for students to see.
We thank Mr. Gary Weckselblatt of The Intelligencer for helping to share this incredible news. Click here to read the article.
Chess Champion
Over the past weekend, 7th grader Alex W. won the championship of 2017 Pennsylvania State K-8 Scholastic tournament for chess. Alex will represent Pennsylvania in the 2017 Barber Tournament of K-8 Champions. This tournament is by invitation only and will be held in Virginia in July where only one representative from each state will compete for the title of the 2017 Barber Champion of Champions. Additionally, Alex received a partial scholarship to the Castle Chess Camp. We wish Alex luck this summer and commend him on his passion and pursuit of chess excellence!

Freshman Day & Dance Reminders
Freshman Day and Dance are tentatively slated for June 9th, 2017. These events are only for currently enrolled ninth grade Tamanend students as it is a special time set aside for our 9th graders to enjoy a final remembrance of their middle school years. You will notice, it is called the “Freshman Dance” and not the “Freshman Prom.” While our Freshman Dance is truly special, there is plenty of time in our students' lives for prom dresses, tuxedos, limos, and fancy proposals for dates. Whether students arrive at the dance in groups, by themselves, or in pairs, they all experience a wonderful time. Please remind your child of this fact when discussion of Freshman Day begins.
This was shared at our 9th grade Back to School Night and has been posted on our web site.
