Hemlock Middle School
Nov. 16th - Nov. 29th
Hemlock Middle School's newly established Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) group is off to a great start this year. The group, led by PTO President, Julie Reidsma, and supported by members Kristin Fowler, Sarah Lapierre, Lisa Little, Angie Trinklein, and Ann Seidel organized a Trail of Terror Halloween Walk this fall, and are now planning a Family Christmas Movie Night in December. They are actively raising money each week for projects to benefit the middle school students and staff.
Principal Terry Keyser shared, “Having an active PTO group has been a very positive thing for our middle school in getting parents involved and more familiar with the needs of the students and staff while having fun along the way. This is a fun group and they have great ideas.”
PTO President Reidsma said, “The PTO values every single student in the middle school. Providing fun activities for them to do together not only allows them to grow closer, but allows us to get to know them and their needs as well.”
Anne Seidel, PTO member says, “The PTO is a great opportunity for parents to get involved in their children’s schools. We all support our own children as best we can, but as a group, we can reach beyond that and have a much greater effect. Bringing students and parents together at PTO-sponsored events simply strengthens our Huskie community!”
The Hemlock Middle School PTO group welcomes new members at any time. The next PTO meeting is Monday, December 9 at 6:00 PM in the HMS library. Please join us in planning for a fun December movie night later that week!

GIRL'S BASKETBALL RESULTS
7th Grade - Congratulations to our 7th grade girls basketball team that dominated last night over the Carrollton Cavaliers. The final score, 51-18. Way to play tough girls! Strong rebounding helped lead the Huskies to their victory. Rebounds pulled down by Ava Graham, Lilly Spillane, and Kassie Hensler helped move the Huskies down the floor. Megan Tilot and Claire Beck played strong Hemlock defense. Carly Siler, Megan Tilot, Ava Graham, Kennedy Krabill, Klaira Salo, and Izzy Krueger all contributed to our 51 total points. Izzy Krueger led with 19 points followed by Klaria Salo with 15 points. Great Win Girls!
8th Grade - The 8th grade girls miracle comeback fell just short Monday night as the lady huskies dropped a 53-45 decision at Carrollton. Down by 24 at halftime, the girls stormed and stole their way back to within 7 points late but ran out of time. Riley Lafrance led all scorers with 23 points for the night. Logan Clayton popped in 8 points (all from the free throw line) while Kylee Miller hit all 7 of her points in the second half. Jaedyn Mallek, Madison Penny, Sophia Hauffe and Emma Streich all had a bucket apiece. Corrina Gomez, Nataly Bodziachowski, Mya Wunsch, and Payton Sullivan also helped in the comeback with several steals and key rebounds.

Tucked between a couple of huge holidays (Halloween and Christmas) is a pretty big holiday itself....Thanksgiving. Nowadays, it gets a little lost, as the Christmas shopping season begins before the Halloween decorations are put away. Enjoy and celebrate this very special time to give thanks for the many loved ones and for the many things you have.
We hope you enjoy the month of November. It is a month filled with holidays and special events.
