Most Awesome Teacher/Staff Parking Raffle

Every week, I will draw a name and the lucky winner gets their VERY own parking spot for a week. You will be able to park in the spot closest to the front of the school.

This week’s lucky winner is Rhonda Hendricks!!!!!!! WhoHoo!!! Congratulations, Rhonda!

  • Jane is always so caring and approachable. Her professionalism, heart for others and knowledge makes her wonderful to work with. I appreciate her always being so welcoming and helpful.
  • Paula W. has been a great asset to our team here at KHES!! She has worked so hard on getting ready for cosmic bowling and putting in lots of volunteer time! She always has a positive attitude and is willing and ready to help in any way. Thanks for all your hard work. It does not go unnoticed!
  • Robin is a ROCKSTAR! She and some little friends have put in MANY hours labeling books in the leveled library. Thanks for all the extra work.
  • Jody's calling may be to teach but nursing has to be a close second! She is always so attentive to all students here but she's especially cautious of students who have asthma or asthma like symptoms. Anytime her students or any student is coughing or appears to have difficulty breathing, Jody is there to encourage fluids then asks "do you have asthma?" Because of her extensive knowledge and family experience of asthma, Jody has been able to detect asthma flare ups and sends/escorts students to the clinic for medication before an asthma attack could take place. Thank you, Jody for taking your job one step further.

Teacher of the Year nominations!

Rodeo Day

Rodeo Day is next Friday, Jan. 22nd during your co-curr time. Please make sure you are on time. Rodeo day takes up the whole 55 minutes! You will find sign-up sheets in your box. Each student should be able to sign up for 2 events. If you need more slots, please put them in event 1 which is Calf Penning as a calf. We can always use extra calves.

There is a description of all the rodeo events on the back of your sign-up sheet to let you know what the events are. Please make sure to have only fast runners as Cowboys in events 1 & 3. We will need you to come with your class to Rodeo Day to supervise your class. If you would rather get a volunteer parent from your class to sit with your kiddos while you take your conference time, you may do so.

Please make sure your kids know their event numbers, if they miss their call out, then they miss their event. Students should wear tennis shoes and not boots to Rodeo Day.

If you are new to the campus and need more explanation, please feel free to email me or come by and see Sarah.

The KISD School Walk for Diabetes will be held on April 2, 2016.

In preparation for this, the Sarah is starting a fundraiser selling Paper Diabetic Shoes again this year.. The sale will start Monday Feb 2 and “RUN” through Friday, February 26th. Each shoe requires a $1.00 donation.

This year, the teacher whose class (per grade level) with the most shoes purchased will be allowed the opportunity to put a pie in the face of: Kristen, Jane, Stephen, Sarah or Rhonda. Names will be drawn for this event. Also, the student, per grade level, who donates the most money towards buying paper shoes will be given the opportunity to “pie” their choice of the above mentioned names.

The "pie in the face" is scheduled for Friday, March 4 at around 2:00. We are planning on doing this on LIVE announcements. We do not want to schedule an assembly or cause too much of an interruption.

McGraw-Hill digital materials (Texas Treasures online materials).

McGraw-Hill’s digital accounts for Texas Treasures/Tesoros (www.ConnectEd) will be purged on Wednesday, January 20th and will be unavailable for approximately 24 hours. The adjustments will include updating student usernames and rostering classes by individual class period. Rostering students will benefit those teachers that are departmentalized. When the accounts are restored student logins will be uploaded and simplified to coincide with other materials on our district platform.

There is a registration fee of $35.00. If you need help with the cost of the registration, we may be able to help cover the cost with campus funds. Here is the link for more information and registration.

R.O.C.K. Merchandise

In the month of January, teachers, students, parents, and our community have an opportunity to purchase NEW 2016 R.O.C.K. shirts. Please help support our KISD’s Reaching Out with Character and Kindness program by providing campus incentives for faculty members/students who purchase a shirt. In addition, please share with the community our purchasing window for the R.O.C.K. clothing in your campus newsletters and/or marquee. This window is only open till Friday, Jan. 29. A second purchasing window will occur in March. The money raised from shirt purchases will help bring in district guest speakers and provide training to our faculty and community on anti-bullying and anti-harassment efforts.
