May 30, 2022
Dear Avery Families,
The year is coming to a close soon- 15 more school days! We have a very busy calendar so please make note of the dates listed below. There are field trips and whole school events coming up.
Our third, fourth and fifth grade students have completed the MCAS. Thank you to all families for ensuring your children were here to participate. The students worked hard during the testing and are ready for a break.
Thank you to the Avery PTO for organizing a wonderful cultural celebration last Wednesday. It was great to have families back in the building for an Avery tradition. Thank you to all the families who set up tables to share their family culture, traditions and food.
The Spring Concert will be this Friday at 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to allow all a chance to attend. The Avery band students will be performing in the morning show. If you will be dismissing your students after the afternoon show, please email Mrs. Griffin earlier in the day. This will ease the congestion at the end of the day. Also, please be sure to look through the lost and found in the lobby. All items left at the end of the school year will be donated.
Mr. Edward Paris, who will be coming onboard July 1, will be here Tuesday, June 7 at 6:15 p.m. for a meet and greet before the June PTO meeting at 7 p.m.. We hope you will be able to come welcome him to Avery.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday!
Field Day and Family Cookout --- Jay Kreisberg
Friday June 10th will be the date for the 2022 Avery Field Day! This year we will have two sessions: 1st-2nd will be from 9:00-10:30 AM and 3rd-5th will be from 10:30-12:00 PM. We will then have a family cookout provided by food services after Field Day for all students. To ensure the continued success of our annual Field Day we must, as in the past, rely on the outstanding support from our parent/guardian volunteers. We need parents to help run games and clean up at the end of the day, as well as help in the cafeteria.
If you would like to volunteer your help with this year’s Field Day, please complete the form linked below and return to main office by June 3rd. Each volunteer must have submitted a C.O.R.I. form within the past three years. Please see the office for more information on the C.O.R.I. checks.
Classes will be participating in Field Day beginning at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8:30 am. Field Day will be finished by 12:00, so please plan on staying until that time. If weather does not cooperate on June 10th, our make-up day for Field Day will be Monday June 13th. Please keep this date in mind, as we may need volunteers if Field Day would need to be rescheduled.
More information will follow as Field Day gets closer. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to volunteer for the Cookout after Field Day as well, please email Mary Whynot at email@example.com.
