Husky BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION!
SEPTEMBER 11, 2020
Hello Mt. Hope Students and Families!
It has been quite the eventful summer; unlike any other! I am proud to be a part of such an amazing team of administrators, teachers, and staff who have worked tirelessly over these past months to develop our Reopening Plan that ensures the health and safety of all of our community!
I am truly excited about the upcoming school year! In these uncertain times, we will need to be flexible, and ready to adapt and modify if the need arises. Working together is the key to successful school experiences for our students and I look forward to working with you throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success!
Please review all materials that are included in this communication as there is important information regarding our school and district programs, procedures, and policies. If you have any questions, please contact us at 401-254-5980.
Thank you!
Dr. DiBiase,

4. Update your Child's Contact Information in the Aspen Parent Portal
Please be sure that you have updated your child's contact information in the Aspen Parent Portal. We have provided information on how to complete this below.
We have added a new Back to School Gateway to our Aspen student information system. This will provide an easy way for families to update their child's contact information, digitally. This system replaces the paper process that families typically complete in the beginning of a school year and provides real time updates on contact information, which is important in ensuring that families receive school and district communications and information related to school events, report cards, school closures, and schedule changes due to the COVID-19 virus.
Please see the following information for accessing the Aspen Parent Portal Website and updating your child's contact information through the Back to School Gateway.
What you will need:
-The Aspen Parent Portal Website https://ri-bwrsd.myfollett.com/aspen/logon.do
-Your child(ren)’s LASID(s)
-Your child(ren)’s date(s) of birth
1. Log into your Aspen parent portal. https://ri-bwrsd.myfollett.com/aspen/logon.do
If you need help getting into your portal, email portal@bwrsd.org
2. Locate these two pieces of information first, as they will be how you get into the Back to School Gateway.
3. The username/login ID for the Back to School Gateway is your child’s LASID, a number that begins with 96 (example: 96xxxxxxx). This can be found by clicking on the Family top tab in the Aspen Parent Portal. The LASID is next to your child’s name.
4. The password for the Back to School Gateway is your child’s date of birth, with the forward slashes included. (example: mm/dd/yyyy)
5. Click on the link that says Back To School Gateway in the Announcements section. Use the child’s LASID and date of birth to log in.
6. Follow the screens to make any adjustments, and save at the end.
7. You will complete this process for each of your children.
5. COVID-19 Daily Screening Procedures
Parents/Guardians must complete the daily COVID-19 Attestation form each day before your child leaves the house to go to school, or the bus stop. This form is also located in the Aspen Parent Portal. The directions for logging in are shown below.

8. VIRTUAL SUPPORT MONDAY ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE
Virtual support Mondays are a time designated for teachers to have an opportunity to work directly with full distance learning students in small groups to reinforce concepts taught in class, conference with students, and answer any questions the students might have. All other students are invited or may be directed by the teacher to attend these small group hangouts for reteaching of difficult concepts or to ask questions. All students will be provided assignments to work independently in a self-paced manner on Virtual Mondays.
9. DISMISSALS & APPOINTMENTS
In Person Dismissals: IF your child needs to be dismissed from school when they are In Person, the student must bring in a signed note from home and give it to Mrs. Coelho in the morning.
For VIRTUAL Students: IF a student has an appointment during the school day (that can not be scheduled after school hours), a parent/guardian must call or email Mrs. Coelho so that the school is aware that he/she will be missing a class.
