Principal's Post

Dear guardians and parents,

Students will be taking NWEA winter MAP in ELA and Math next week. Monday students will take ELA MAP and Wednesday students will take the Math assessment. NWEA MAP is used to assess student growth. This week students reviewed their Fall MAP scores to see where they were so they know where they need to go. MAP data is used to determine Raider Time lessons (extra practice or extension) and close gaps in achievement. For our 8th graders, these scores will be used when scheduling their high school courses. We have reiterated all week how important it is to show what you know. Please partner with us this weekend and mention it as well. I am including the link to NWEA's family toolkit. This resource has several short videos that explain NWEA MAP in case you want more information.

Tutoring will begin on February 8th. It will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00. Please click on the Google Form if your child will be attending.

We will be on schedule D next week which means students will begin their day in Core 4.

Lastly, our parent volunteers need assistance for the February 10th Talent Show. See below for the link if you can assist.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warm Regards,

Heather Andrus

Northwestern Softball

Any girl interested in taking advantage of open softball practice: You must be zoned to attend Northwestern and have an up to date PlanetHS account. This time will provide extra practice before Raiders tryouts begin on February 6. You will be allowed to practice at NHS in preparation for Raider Softball on January 17- 20 4:15-5:45 and Jan 23-25 from 4:15-5:45. You will need to take with you your softball gear: cleats, gloves, and water bottle.

Northwestern Boys Tennis

Northwestern High School Boys Tennis regular season practice begins Monday, January 30. The team will practice from 4 to 5:30 pm at the school courts. If there is bad weather, the team will meet in the F-Gym lobby for indoor practice.

The season continues through February, March, and April. We usually have practices and matches Monday through Thursday after school.

Players must have their https://studentcentral.bigteams.com/ forms completed to participate.

Please contact your school Athletic Department if you have questions about the forms.

We are a no-cut team, as long as a player tries his best, keeps good grades, and follows school/team rules. Keep up with NHS tennis at our twitter web site: https://twitter.com/trojan10is
