Tustumena Elementary Newsletter
January 27, 2017
Three ways to know for sure it is Winter:
1- Mr. Michael is busy grooming trails for the cross-country ski club. Currently we have 28 (grades 4-6) students skiing around the campus every Tuesday and Thursday night. Our trail is about 2K long around the campus with a skill-building track out on the soccer field. Community members are encouraged to use the track as well. I hope you will all get a chance to enjoy this snow. (I hope it stays around for a while).
2- The Tustumena 200 is gearing up. Just like our cross-country skiing club, the T-200 dogsled race has had a tough time the last couple of years with the lack of snow. But this year is a go. The starting line is at mile post 112 (2 miles south of the school) and the teams start taking off at 11:00 am this Saturday, 1/28/2017. This local race is a qualifier for the Iditarod so there is a lot on the line for the racers. Good luck to all.
3- Continued Pre-K and Kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year. Please see Mrs. Mills if you have a student who will begin their school career in August. Thank you.
