Language Arts - TEKS for 2nd Six Weeks
Your child should be able to do the following :
- All TEKS from 1st Six Weeks plus:
- Describe the structural elements particular to dramatic literature.
- Identify whether the narrator or speaker of a story is first or third person
Identify similarities and differences between the events and characters' experiences in a fictional work and the actual events and experiences described in an author's biography or autobiography.
Explain how various design techniques used in media influence the message
Plan a first draft by selecting a genre appropriate for conveying the intended meaning to an audience and generating ideas through a range of strategies (e.g., brainstorming, graphic organizers, logs, journals)ddevelop drafts by categorizing ideas and organizing them into paragraphs
Develop drafts by categorizing ideas and organizing them into paragraphs
Revise drafts for coherence, organization, use of simple and compound sentences, and audience
Edit drafts for grammar, mechanics, and spelling using a teacher-developed rubric

- Where are they today
At the end, they should be able to create a Venn diagram to compare/contrast the five tribes studied.

- 23rd - Hats off to drugs - wear hats
- 24th- Be a Hero - Dress as super hero (no masks)
- 25th- Too Bright for Drugs - Wear neon colors
- 26th- Follow Your Dreams - Wear pajamas (must be in dress code)
- 27th- Say Boo to Drugs- Costumes (nothing scary, no masks)
Oct. 24 - Lunch with a Loved One (Grades K, 2, and 4)
Oct. 24 - Cici's Spirit Night 5:00-8:00 pm
Oct. 25 - Lunch with a Loved One (Grades 1, 3, and 5)
Oct. 27 - Monster Bash (Due to decorating the cafeteria, students will not be eating in cafe) 4th and 5th grade from 6:00 - 8:00pm cost is $5.00
Oct. 31 - Wear Orange! NO Costumes.
Nov. 9- Science Night 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Nov. 20-24 Thanksgiving Break - No school
4th Grade Field Trip to Austin, Texas
