Room 212 News #2
September 10
Wonderful First Week!
Our class had a great time getting to know one another and learning the classroom routines last week. We will continue to ease into the first grade curriculum, while building confidence, independent work habits and practicing safe, respectful and responsible behavior.
Thanks to the many families who have been filling out the Student Information form online. The responses have given me a better understanding of your children.

Curriculum Night
Curriculum Night at Bryant is Tuesday September 19th from 6:30-8pm. I will be able to share lots of first grade information with you, as well as answer your questions about this school year. Our principals and PTO will also have a presentation that evening.
What if Everybody did That?
Ask your child about this fun book we read, which helps to illustrate that sometimes, small behaviors can snowball into big trouble, "if everybody did that."
Classroom Needs
Thanks so much to the families who have donated items for our classroom!
Some of the items we commonly need:
- tissues
- hand sanitizer
Helpful items to send in for your child:
- a dry erase marker
- headphones (labeled with name and in a ziplock bag)
If your child is comfortable wearing earbuds, those are fine instead of headphones.
Lunch and Snacks
Our recess and lunch will be from 11:52 - 12:40. Your student may bring lunch from home or purchase school lunch. S/he may also purchase milk only. We will be having one time daily for snack in our classroom. Please send a snack with your child each day, if possible. A snack will be provided for children who don't bring one from home. The district asks that snack the first two weeks of school be fruits/veggies only, as allergy information is being compiled by the nurse. Thank you!
Special Schedule
Here are the days we'll be having special classes to start the year! I'll update you, as a few changes may occur during our first month. Students need gym shoes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Monday: ILT (library) and Music
Tuesday: PE and Music
Wednesday: PE and Art
Thursday: ILT - This will be our book exchange day.
Friday: ILT
Volunteering - Looking forward to seeing you this year!
Volunteer Certification Form: If you are planning to volunteer with your child’s class, you must complete the Volunteer Certification Form. This form needs to be completed each new school year. Please submit your completed form in person to either the Bryant or Pattengill office, and present your ID. Thank you for assisting our schools with maintaining a safe environment for all Bryant/Pattengill children. Find this form in the office, or use this link Volunteer Certification Form
How does your child go home from school?
Dismissal can be confusing, especially during the first weeks of school. Please make sure I know how your child will be getting home each day. If there are changes to dismissal, notify me by noon. If I do not answer the classroom phone or respond to your email, make sure you contact the office instead. Thanks! Parent Pickup is taking place in the circle drive. Parent pickup students in our class are exiting through our back door, to the new playground area, and then to the circle drive. Want to avoid the traffic? Try taking Ellsworth to Shadowood, to Blain Ct. A sidewalk from Blain Ct. takes you along Bryant's east playground, to the building.
