Bateman Buzz; VOL 3
2023-2024; VOL 3
Dear Bateman Families and Friends,
There has been a drastic increase in the amount of children becoming ill throughout the school day. We have seen many cases of strep , flu, stomach viruses, and lengthy coughs. As a reminder, please keep your child home from school if they have a fever. If your child complains of a headache, sore throat, or stomachache, please take the time to assess the situation prior to sending them to school.
Our guidelines are as follows:
- Your child should stay home if their fever is 100 or greater.
- Please don't administer an antipyretic such as Tylenol or Motrin to your sick child and then send your child to school.
- If your child vomits the morning of school or the night before, please keep them home. Do not assume it's "something they ate".
- Seek medical care outside of the school environment.
If your child comes down to the nurses office with any of the above symptoms, we will first ask them to put their head down, drink water or eat something, or try to use the washroom. If they are still not feeling well, we will be calling to have an emergency contact pick up the child. We appreciate your prompt response as we have had several ill children in the building this week.
As a friendly reminder, if a child is sent home from school, they must stay home the following day until they have cleared a full 24 hours fever-free or without any symptoms.
Thank you to all of our Bateman families who have been respectful of our students and staff by keeping their sick children home.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Warm Regards,
Ms. Davos & Ms. Kloepper
