State of the School
Thank you to everyone that participated in, and joined us, for the state of the school! Feel free to watch the recording on our school website homepage to learn about the progress we've made as a school and our continued plan for improvement.
Congratulations to our Band Students!
We are very proud to share that 7 students from Mr. Hickman’s 7th and 8th grade bands participated in district honor band last weekend. These students rehearsed A LOT and presented their amazing concert. Students in district honor band are among the top musicians in the district! From here, 2 students were selected to audition for All-State Band. These two students placed either 1st or 2nd chair at districts. Abby Dilaura was selected for All-State Middle School band and placed 1st chair in Bari saxophone. She will head to Athens at the beginning of March to participate in the All-State music festival at UGA. This is big honor and we are all very excited for her to represent Peachtree Middle School.
A huge shout out goes to Mr Hickman as it’s huge honor and great testimony to his skills and ability as a band director to have students attend districts and All-State!

Collaboration Spotlight: World Language
This week we hosted Dunwoody High School World Language teachers in our French and Spanish classrooms.
Madame McKenzie noted:
Students had a chance to ask questions about the Dunwoody High School French program . They were excited to hear about and increase their understanding of the varying French levels that exist beyond Middle School as well as the AP program. Even more exciting news for the students was the news of the immersion-like French trip on which students studying French at Dunwoody embark while there. Students were told by Madame Conte that days are built in while on the trip for them to attend school with teenagers of their own age. My students were beyond themselves!
We were really happy that a face-to-face meeting could be arranged and I think it served as a catalyst for students to have the strong intrinsic desire to achieve success in the World Language program here at Peachtree so that their horizons and opportunities can be broadened beyond the walls of Middle School.
Madame Conte reiterated that she will be back: and will arrange for some of her French students to interact with ours by playing some French games later in the Semester.
Señora Carter and Señor Lara shared their experiences meeting with DHS' Mr. Dinshaw Anklesaria and learning the specific areas of alignment that DHS Spanish teachers would like to have at Peachtree. These included the use transitional words when they are speaking in the target language and the use of the 5 Cs: culture, community, communications, connections and comparisons.
