October 19- 9 am-4 pm
Monday, October 2nd, you should receive a LINK by EMAIL specific to your child's teacher and their conference schedule. You will be able to click on that link and select from one of our dates and times on Oct. 18th & 19th. It will then go directly to the teacher's google calendar and make a Google Meet Link.

*If requested, a phone conference can take the place of an "in person" conference. If you would like to schedule a conference with a Specials teacher (Computers, Art, or Music) or our Counselor, you can do so by emailing them to set up a Google Meet or call the building to talk to the teacher to set up an appointment.
Fall Scholastic Book Fair
Dear Parents and Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Book Fair….
Monday, October 9th and Tuesday, October 10th, students will visit the Book Fair with their class to Preview the Fair and make Wish Lists.
Tuesday, October 10th from 3:45-5:30 pm, Vowles Elementary will host a family Book Fair shopping night in our Library. Plan to come to the Fair this evening if you’d like to be one of the first shoppers at the Fair and see our full selection of books. Please enter the school at the front office door for this event.
Wednesday, October 11th from 8:30-9:15, Join us at Vowles for a Breakfast & Books! Parents/Guardians may bring Breakfast and your coffee and eat with your child in their classrooms. Students will be served their normal breakfast and some light breakfast items will be available to the adults. While eating, you will hear a short video regarding our Title 1 program and then may continue eating. Bring a blanket and a book(s) to read for some quality time with your child during the breakfast at this fun family event! While you are here, you’ll also have the opportunity to shop at the Book Fair in the Library!
Thursday, October 12th is the last shopping day for students. Any students who bring money to school for the Book Fair or have an eWallet, will be called down to the Fair during the school day and our staff will assist them.
We would like to make families aware of the Scholastic eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

We are looking forward to all of this Book Fair fun! We can’t wait to see you there!
Happy Reading,
Shari Norman, Book Fair Chairperson

Student Attendance
Student Attendance is important to us. If your child is sick, please call the school Office at 775-2280 before 10:00 each morning to let us know.
For safety reasons, families will soon begin receiving a phone call by 10:20 am for any student that is marked as Absent each morning in Power School. You can deter getting that call from our system by calling us in the morning to let us know of your child's absence and their reason for the absence.
Our codes we use for absences are:
UA-Unexcused Absence
Any absence that has not been reported by a parent or guardian and/or any absence that is not listed as an Excused Absence in Board Policy.
AV-Verified Absence
An absence that the parent verifies or explains. Example: (1) The student doesn’t feel well, and is staying home, but is not visiting the doctor. (2) The family is taking an extra long weekend, vacation, etc.
EA-Excused Absence
Absences that meet the definition of an Excused Absence based on MPPS Board Policy.
*Illness or professional appointments with a doctors note *Death of a relative
*Observance of Religious Holidays
Below are images to our attendance policy but it can also be found in the front of your child's Agenda....

Back to School Tidbits for Families
Here is a list of Back to School helpful hints that benefit both parents and teachers~

2) Send an extra pair of clothes to stay in your child's locker. Put in a ziplock and label with your child's name.
3) Water bottle- send your child to school with a water bottle to have.
