Chi-Hi Student Services Department - December 2023
2024-2025 Course Scheduling
Students will be given course scheduling information for the 2024-2025 school year during their TA time on Monday, December 4. Students will watch a short video and will have access to their grade level scheduling newsletter. The newsletter will contain important information regarding how to enter course selections, a course scheduling handbook and the course request worksheet.
Students should keep the following points in mind:
- All course selections must be entered into the Academic Planner in Infinite Campus, including four alternates.
- Alternates should be listed in priority. (Alternate courses will be used in the event of a scheduling conflict, or if classes are full or not offered).
- Course request worksheets have a Guide for Scheduling on the back that will help students choose courses needed for graduation.
- Pay close attention to prerequisites and read course descriptions.
- Consideration should be given to the student's plans for after high school. (College and technical college requirements are available in the online course book).
- Also, take into account rigor of schedule. (i.e., if taking multiple advanced level courses, consider the amount of out of class work along with after school commitments).
Students have until January 5 to input their course requests into Infinite Campus. Course applications for classes that require them are also due on January 5.
Seniors Applying to Colleges
The time is now! Students are encouraged to go to the website of the college of interest and become familiar with their entrance requirements as these can vary greatly. Application deadlines vary. Keep in mind that some selective schools have early action or early decision requirements. Some popular programs at technical colleges can fill quickly and may have waiting lists, so it is in your best interest to apply early. Job Shadow Program
Chippewa Falls High School collaborates with CESA 10 to offer job shadow experiences for our students. Job shadows allow sophomore, junior and senior students the opportunity to spend time with someone on-the-job as a means of career exploration. Job shadows vary, but most last six hours. All job shadows must be approved by a parent/guardian and students must have their own transportation. Students interested should contact their school counselor.
Summer Educational Opportunity for Students!
The John Hopkins University is offering a virtual summer program to students interested in global health and medicine. This international conference is open to students in grades 9-12. Students will learn about issues in global health, public health and medicine through world-class lectures from leaders in these fields, develop connections with like-minded exceptional students, and share their own work and ideas on global health-related topics at the international scale.
