Holiday Gift Of Giving
During this holiday season the staff and students of Gayman Elementary plan to share the spirit of warmth and love with families from our local area. By sharing this project with the community we will be able to provide gifts for many of the children. You can help by taking a tag from the giving tree in the lobby. Simply purchase a gift, wrap it, attach the tag to the gift, and place it under the tree by Wednesday, December 16th. In lieu of donating food and household items, we are again asking each homeroom to collect money to be used towards the purchase of grocery store gift cards.
This year we are also supporting the Bucks County Homeless Children's Initiative and the Wounded Warrior Project. If you choose to take a heart tag for the Bucks County Homeless Children's Initiative, simply purchase a gift certificate to K-Mart, Target or a local grocery store and return the certificate to school with the tag attached. If you choose a tag for the Wounded Warrior Project, simply make a monetary donation (check made out to the Wounded Warrior Project), place it in an envelope and attach the tag to the outside of the envelope.
During this season of celebration and generosity, it is such a valuable lesson for our children to learn the importance of helping others who are less fortunate. For complete details please click here.

CBSD Communication Survey
Dear Central Bucks Parents and Guardians,
In the past few years, communication across the district has greatly evolved. Our district and school websites have been upgraded with the intent to make them more mobile-friendly, our school newsletter format has been standardized, and we have integrated Facebook and Twitter for the sharing of information. Given all of these changes, we wanted to poll our families on the effectiveness of our information outreach.
Here is a link to a brief survey that will help us gather your feedback and to ensure that information and updates are reaching our families in the most efficient manner. The link will also be available on the district webpage. If you have children in multiple buildings, please feel free to complete multiple surveys or utilize the final question to differentiate your responses.
We value your insight and appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey. If you have any questions, please contact Community Relations at: Communityrelations@cbsd.org
Update On District Wellness Policy Regarding Food Allergies
The Central Bucks School District's Wellness Policy regarding food allergies and holiday parties/field trips is as follows:
- Parents of food allergic students requiring an Epi-Pen are given the courtesy of going on field trips. Nurses are not available for a field trip, so this will allow parents peace of mind. Teachers have been trained on how to administer an Epi-Pen in the event of an emergency.
- It is not necessary for parents of food allergic students to attend classroom parties. A nurse is in the building during the time of classroom parties. Parents are instructed to touch base with teachers and homeroom parents informing them that their child has a food allergy. The parent is requested to provide a food item that is safe for their child to eat.
- Gayman Elementary School will adhere to the school district's wellness policy effective December 1, 2015.
Green Day Trees Planted
Last year Student Council challenged Gayman students to wear crazy amounts of green on Earth Day for a $1.00. With the money raised, we purchased and planted trees on the playground. On Friday, Student Council members and the “Greenest Students” from each grade helped mulch the trees.

December Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
December #22. School Engagement. Young person is actively engaged in educational activities inside and/or outside of school. They take learning a step further and by their actions and enthusiasm serve as a role model to others. Boomerang nominations may be emailed to Suzanne Vass at svass@cbsd.org, or printed out and sent into the office.
