TLS Update 4-1-2020

Trinity Lutheran School

Update for 4-1-2020

Below are the updates for distance learning.

  • Pick-up and Drop-off - after listening to your feedback and talking with the faculty we will have pick-up and drop-off on Sundays from 12-3. If you are able we would like you to follow the schedule which splits up the families by last name. A-G will be 12 - 1. H-N will be 1-2. O-Z will be 2-3. We will follow this schedule as long as we are using distance learning. We will do a drive-through style drop-off and pick-up. Please have your students work to turn in paperclipped together by student so it can be easily put into the correct bin. Please write you last name and your students' grades on a piece of paper and have it in your front window when you drive up to make it easier for us to make sure that we get you all the materials that you will need for the week and a teacher will collect the finished work and bring you the new work so you don't have to get out of your car.
  • Distance Learning Duration - At this time the Governor has ordered schools closed through April 24. I fully anticipate that it will be extended at least through the end of April. We will continue to update you as we get new information.
  • Gym Use- At this time TLCC is still in operation and so in order to protect them the gym is closed at this time to everyone else.
  • Assignments - Some parents have expressed concern about not being able to get work done on a daily basis because of parents' work schedules. The teachers discussed this at our meeting and decided that while the weekly deadline for the Sunday drop-off and pick-up needs to be followed, there is room for us to be flexible on the daily deadlines. While we encourage students to follow the daily deadlines for their own benefit of not falling behind, we know that at this time flexibility is also needed. If students are not able to finish everything on a certain day that is ok.
  • Calendar Update - There will be no distance classes on Good Friday, April 10, however, we will have distance classes on Monday, April 13.
  • 3rd Quarter Report Cards - Report Cards will be available for pick up on Sunday, April 12 at the drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Upper-Grade Parents - Most of the assignments will be listed every day on Google Classroom. Assignments will be posted daily. Your students are familiar with this learning platform. Please have them show you around. I have also included a short video on Google Classroom below to help.
